This. Also, I have not noticed a weight trend either way. Boat anchors have popped up occasionally over the years, but have never been the norm IME.

I was at the shop once some years ago (after Dan sold, I think) and there was a Duck Dunn I was encouraged to pick up. The thing weighed at least 13 lbs.! The guys said they weren't going to bother trying to sell it even as B stock.

Also, the first 100 JO's is a bit of a myth too. I have JO138 and I have a signature label on my headstock

Did you mean to say that Carl’s tops are thicker? And that they make a tonal difference?

I hope I don’t regret what I just did. Found a too-good-to-be-true (?) price on a used tobacco burst 55-14 on eBay and now I’m in full-on worry mode that there has to be something wrong with it. I’ve bought from the dealer in the past with no real issues so I guess I’ll know for sure in a couple days. 30 Day return policy if it turns out to be a lemon so worst case scenario is I’m out shipping expense.

Btw...no offence against Lakland's specialty top basses....

They get some of the best figured wood out there and they look gorgeous!!!
