After owning this 44-94 for a few of years now, I still find that there is nothing I would rather play, bought a brand new MM Caprice P bass last year, fantastic bass, but doesn't balance or feel anywhere as ergonomic as the 44-94. And the neck, never in all my years of searching GAS for the"One Bass" have I found a neck that is as comfortable as this one.

A Lākland and a GB Streamliner.... there’s no better combination, at least for me :-D. Add in my Aguilar DB112nt cabinets and I’m in heaven!
Changing topics: do you have any digital calipers? I’d love to see the measurements of your 44-94’s neck and compare to the 2 first year basses, that I made a post about a few weeks back.
I don't particularly care for black pick guards, or black basses for that matter, but... WOW!! That's just beautiful!
Plus, I was watching the Charlie Daniel's volunteer jam last night... his bassist played a 55-94... now, I have no desire for a 5'er... but if the 44-94 sounds as fantastic, I may just have to pick one up, regardless of the fact I'm very used to the "J" type neck of my Duck Dunn
P+7 days and I'm in the middle of a weird ménage à six between Reverb, PayPal, Apple Credit, the person who received payment (Jomar Tusoy Pantinople), the fake person (Pamela Olson) who listed the bass on Reverb, and the actual owner of the bass on eBay. Reverb won't do anything at this point other than shut down the seller's profile, deferring to PayPal to resolve it. We all know PayPal wants you to work it out with the seller before they'll get involved so in my attempt to do so, I find the person who received the payment from Reverb was actually hired by this mysterious "Pam Olson" to conduct the PayPal transaction and convert the dollars to Bitcoin. All he's done thus far is said he's can't do anything but provide me with some bizarre contact info for the Reverb "seller" (skype: live:.cid.929997f66ce4345 Email: xxxx).
Now there's no way in heck I'm reaching out to a Skype account made up of random letters and numbers. Meanwhile, I reached out to Apple Credit who is researching the transaction on their end but has at least credited the dollars back to my account in the interim. The actual owner of the bass that is listed for real on eBay has been awesome. He sent me a photo today of him holding the bass in front of his TV showing the date and time so there's proof that the Reverb listing is fake. I need to wait several more hours before I can escalate to PayPal which will put this into a long review cycle but I'm hoping that Apple Credit swings in here in the next day to say they're good and the money is returned for good.
All I'm gonna say is it's good I'm stuck in a Stay At Home directive and can't really do much else at this point but research my stupid Reverb transaction.

Ooops, I did it again.
2006 55-94 in dire need of a cleaning and new strings but in overall great shape. The quilting is quite beautiful in person and am loving the oiled neck already.
Will post a couple more pics when I get it cleaned and set up.

Couple questions for the experts in the group and my apologies if I show my naïveté.
Did all earlier US Laklands use the smaller post Hipshot tuners?
Is it customary that they were fully shielded?
...and use sleeved screws for the cavity cover?

Those all seem correct to me- mine is a 2000 (and I had a 2012 prior) and has all of that (except the 2012 didn't have the threaded screw inserts, so that's a plus).
Awesome. Thank you for confirming. Having only had Skylines and 1 US 55-14, I was caught off guard by how clean the electronics were. Usually see a jumbled mess of wires when I open 'em up.
