Lakland Owners Group #69

Let’s keep the black hardware wearing Lākland P bass theme going! The LaBella Gold flats look great and match the Lākland logo and gold EMG lettering. But, I’m not sure they’ll stay. They’re a little too tight for my tastes, even at a half step down.

Looks good blacked out! Interesting to hear your impressions as you try diff flats on her.

Just FYI there is a first year 44-01 on Reverb right now. 100% no doubt the 2002/2003 first year Skyline models are the closest to the USA line of any I have played.

I am sure that Lakland payed extra special attention to those first Skylines. But, you need to play my 44-64 GZ! You know I've had more US Laklands than I can remember, and probably 7 or 8 Skylines. This 2020 GZ shocked me in a very good way! I hope all the PLEK'd Skylines are put together and play like this one!

I too have ( and have had) several skylines that are US quality... But that 2002 Glaub was very special

I've been on the fence wanting to try a 44-01/02... because I can't afford a USA..
I'm pretty dang excited about this.
It's my first time doing anything on Reverb, I've read some horror stories, hope mine isn't one of them

My 44-01 is a 2012 and it was Plecked. I was pleasantly surprised how well it played. I think JJ can improve on the playability. With out much effort.

44-01 makes a good platform for mods. Enjoy it and give impressions when you get it. I have never bought from Reverb either. Hope you have a good experience.

I've been buying and selling on Reverb since the early days and have had only one bad instance and it was shipping related not Reverb related. In fact Reverb made the shipping issue much easier to manage. Congrats! I would have bought it myself if I hadn't put some money down on a new Ashdown bass. Report back. I never played a 2002/2003 Skyline that wasn't amazing.

Wow, beautiful bass and rig. I was thinking of raising my cab also. Still getting used to this new cab. Sorry for posting pic again. View attachment 3885999

Thank you! I absolutely love what gear I have... I mainly raised my cab to more easily reach dials on the Mesa D800... but I like how it gets the sound from my ankles closer to my ears too

I have a large case for my tiny GB Streamliner. I store my cables and other things in it, between gigs. I often put it on the floor and a speaker cabinet on top, to get the sound closer to me ears.

Does anyone have a definitive answer regarding how “passive” the active/passive switch is on the LH3 preamp equipped basses? Is the switch a true passive circuit (bypassing the preamp altogether) or is it just a tone control bypass keeping the preamp in the circuit? I know it will still output sound with a dead or no battery in “passive” mode but is the pre still loading the circuit in this mode regardless?

Lakland documentation is not very clear about this.

EDIT: Added wiring diagram.

EDIT X2: And I did search but I get conflicting answers. The wiring schematic above seems to indicate it does bypass but I’m not 100% confident if I’m reading the circuits correctly.
