The passive mode does work without a battery...
I have a 2007 Korean made Skyline Duck Dunn bass. Is this considered the signature bass of his? Or a standard Skyline P. Thanks
A Skyline P, based off of Duck's Jazz-necked Fender he played for years and years.
About the time the Pirucellos bought the company. Don't know if they were exactly correlated, and others can opine on that, but it was roughly the same time.
Ahhhh. Discussed ad nauseam already. Got it.
Just FYI there is a first year 44-01 on Reverb right now. 100% no doubt the 2002/2003 first year Skyline models are the closest to the USA line of any I have played.

... hey, don't judge me, I've been two knobs and passive for a long time

The serial number says its a 2003. No way to tell the month by the SN. 2002 and 2003's are pretty much the same as most small runs kind of crossed over the years. I don't think there was ever more than maybe one or two runs of that candy apple red color. Is your DD and indonesian model?
Congrats!! I almost pulled the trigger on that one. I had some questions for the seller that I was waiting for answers on, when you bought it. And, like many sellers unfortunately, I only got part of my questions answered. I don't understand why people can't take the time to fully read a message and reply to every question?!!SO THANKFUL, AGAIN!! That Mr. Alien posted this link...
Here she is, y'all!

And if I understand the #'s correctly, she was born March of '02?? Correct me if I'm wrong..
I've only had a short time with it. I was concerned about the difference in this neck, and my Duck Dunn neck.. there is an obvious feel difference, but nothing major.. .. sadly, I have to admit slight case of ignorance... for some reason i thought there were two p'up volumes, with the T.M.B eq knobs...
So initially I was turning down the "front pup knob to see how the rear pup sounded soloed ... ???? I was a bit ticked.. no sound!!
Doh!!! All is good, once I realize it's a blend knob...![]()

..
Bottom line, I love it, so far... I will take it too my luthier friend for a once over and string change... it has Rotosound half rounds on it... strangely feel good, but way too bright and zingy for me... for now, I'll probably go with LaBella 760FL's. I have those on my Duck, and love them...and maybe there's a way to tighten up the volume knob... it seems loose feeling .. any ideas about that??
I'll post a sibling photo once I get a chance to snap one..![]()

Anyways, you do realize that your 01 was not PLEK'd, right? His listing made it appear that it was. The PLEK was not purchased by Lakland until years later.
Also, I have a set of LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats, the through body 760FM-TB (49-109) that are cut for a Lakland. I bought them new and put them on my Carlo. I've played them about 10 minutes, no gigs and no rehearsals, just long enough to know that I'm not a fan of the tension. If you're interested in them, PM me. I doubt I'll ever use them and should sell them to someone that will.
Peace, and congrats again!
