On that 55-02 I don't personally think the strings are misaligned too much. I think it's microscopic, even (not literally).
I've seen plenty of US-made 5-string basses (Fender, MM, G&L, Lakland) that look off because the dot inlays aren't exactly under the A string. I think the dots are the ones off-center.
For string alignment I look at the distance from fretboard edge to proximal string (fretboard edge to low E or B, and fretboard edge to G).

I've never seen it on any of my 30 plus US Laklands. And, it's not the dots, as is evident in the way the strings don't align well with the truss route or pickup screws. This has been discussed many times, years ago amongst the group. Us long-timers know it was a Skyline thing. Many didn't care. Some found it annoying that their G strings would slide off the fret ends while playing, which is why I tried to fix it for myself and a friend who bought a LOG bass 55-64.

In 2006 they should have been Fralins so they were swapped. I'm not sure what they are though.

It's possible based on that photo but I will say I never saw a set of Lakland/Hanson jazz pickups both with red and black leads.

FYI this neck is 1 3/4" at the nut...not the thinner J neck as some seem to have.

Good questions! They still make 44-64s with jazz taper pearl blocked necks. I think most are PJs though. I don't know if they still make occasional runs of CAR ones with no J pickup.
