I have an update on the Vintage Forge knobs with before and after pics. They are high quality with a solid and heavy feel. I decided to swap the knobs on my Lakland and Spector. They look great, it almost begs the question--why would a $,$$$ bass guitar not come with these standard? Or why such a bass guitar would come with plastic knobs at all? The new knobs are slightly bigger, which I like.

While I personally like the knobs you're putting on, not everyone digs that vintage look. Plus the lines up top on the stock knobs are much easier to see. Also, as you suggest, the metal knobs are heavier--a lot of folks want lighter basses, and if the plastic knobs shave however many ounces off vs. metal ones, buyers are good with that. Just my two cents.
Agree with GregC. I don't want chrome P bass knobs on certain basses.
But, do your own thing. I'm sure Lakland would happily stick metal knobs on a US build for you.

Thanks, very true on both points. Certainly, the functionality (marker line and weight) of the original knobs has its appeal and merit. Stylewise, I also agree not everyone will like the same aesthetic. I did forget to ask Lakland about the knobs when I ordered it.
Does anyone one have a source for the original larger knobs that were used for the Lakland 55-94's. I like to get some even if they had to printed on a 3D Laser Printer.

Agree, I also like honey burst, but I have only seen it on a 55-02 not on a 44-02.

Nice, would have been great to have the volume knob stacked with it in. My Noll pre amp does that, clean and tidy.

I'm getting a tech to make some alterations to my 55-94 including adding a passive tone control, but rather than adding an extra control I'm having a stacked bass and treble. I'm also getting a push pull mid switch to switch between my two favourite mid settings. Imo having the mid switch accessible via the dipswitch in the back is kinda pointless.
Very much looking forward to getting my bass working the way I like. How are you finding the passive tone control?
I bought a US JO on Reverb a couple of years ago. The previous owner replaced the stock pickups with Chi-Sonics, which sound great. However, he did his own routing which was a poor job, leaving ugly corners and open space between the pickups and pick guard and body. I found a company in the UK that makes "goof rings" and sent Glen Havelock the dimensions needed. I had the rings back in a couple of weeks, at a cost of about $90 including postage. He applied a light adhesive backing, but they stay in place without and I haven't remove the paper backing yet. Here are before and after pics.
