Lakland Owners Group #69

Does anyone have any information on Lakland bass guitar straps? I can't seem to find anything online. Obviously they are no longer for sale, and I haven't seen one come up on resale. It looks like a 3 inch strap with leather ends and the Lakland logo. See pictures of Adam Clayton with one below. Thanks for any info you can share and if you have one, can you comment on it. Is it any good? When were they made? Thanks. View attachment 4816089 View attachment 4816091

They do have straps now, but they are not these old wide ones made of wool. They are very basic. I can send a picture of the current ones if you want.

Thank you thank you. @whirledpeas was incredibly flexible, and it made this purchase that much easier.

Yes, this was a re-fin. It was originally Inca Silver, and @lpcarter has Marty Bell do an Olympic White refin. I may have inspired it with a US Lakland I had that looks just like this one - he’ll have to confirm.

Regardless, it’s great to have this bass. It’s nearly the same as my old one and I’m going to pretend it is my old one

Comfortably stabled:

That bass is truly great. I’m happy you landed it! I don’t remember exactly why I got it refin’d, but I can tell you I was on a HUGE refin kick at the time :bassist: and I don’t think I really liked the Inca silver.

When I got it, the wiring was literally falling apart and the neck shim was like. Some piece of metal. I sent it to Carl for wiring, a bone nut, and a maple neck shim and WOW. What a difference! This bass kills. Enjoy!

Love the JO…..What color is that?

I think the "little brown truck map" is simultaneously the coolest and the most irritating thing I have seen today.
Cool, because you can see where the truck is (allegedly).
Maddening because it seems to get further and further away from your house the more you look at the damn thing.
Oh man, I’ve chased that thing when I had a bass coming. I teach and had 2 periods in a row off so I went home. I live close to my school and the truck was in the neighborhood and then it turns and completely goes the opposite direction. I didn’t arrive until a few hours later. It could be maddening

Hello I got a brand new Jsonic a while back and I wrote Lakaland asking what are the stock strings on a Skyline, they mentioned they come with D'addario, so I purchase a set, today i was changing the strings and turns out they are not the same strings at all, the B string on the lakland is tapered, and definitely not d'addario, would anyone know what strings are this?

thanks Kevin, this is what I thought, now the problem since they normally use D'addario for skylines, i assume they ran out of the D'addario and put whatever was close at hand, I dont have anything to measure to see if they used the light or the medium size, the reason for my obsession is, I really like the feel of the strings, and i would like to get the exact same.

Measure the strings if you can. I use their mediums. 45-65-85-105-128.

I was under the impression (I could be totally wrong) that they have a custom gauge that is made by D'addario for them. I believe they are also the pro-steel line. I personally use D'addario EXL-170-5's on all of my basses. I string through the bridge and that allows me to use the standard long scale.

No, Lakland strings are made by GHS. The ones that come from Indonesia on Skylines are D'Addario.

Looks like a Lakland set. You can order from them. They got a new batch around June.
