Mine is what I think you’re referring to as a mature subtle amount of yellow with a much broader cherry burst.
But I honestly grabbed this one for the BEM.

Both are quite exquisite. We sure are seeing a lot of examples of 55-94’s with the Bartolini pickups and preamp. Amazingly this system has proved
the test of time. I had the opportunity to switch out mine when Lakland moved to the LH ( Lakland /Hanson) pickups which are quite good. I just

I like the pickguard. I'm thinking of adding one to my 44-02 in natural, just to make it feel more like my own. Just not sure what color to go with.
I have to agree. It must be seen. I had a mint condition 1st year 4-94 (I think it was serial number 93) that was cherryburst with BEM fretboard. Pat Wilkins knew how to spray 'em, and still does! The cherryburst was gorgeous!
The Bart pups and preamps in the 1998-2000 55-94s (and the ones in my '95 4-94) leave me wanting nothing! No supposed "upgrades" needed.
And, I find it funny that (and we've all done it) when we decide to swap something out, we have to say we "upgraded" our bass. The early Bart setup is part of the magic that put Lakland where they are today. I think we all 1) fall victim to the "upgrade your bass with these" sales pitch 2) get the urge to spend money and/or 3) get the itch for something different. Wanting different sounds is why I have over 30 basses. So, I am by no means judging anyone LOL!! And, I totally believe in upgrading a 44-01 or 55-01. And, I would TOTALLY upgrade a 55-02 with the Pre-2000 Bart pups and pre that I have in my parts drawer ;-) .

I think cherry burst is my least fave bass colour (and yes, I've owned a 44-02 Deluxe in that finish haha).

Spalted 44-01. I like my Cherryburst better, but get more compliment on the wood tone of this bass. Colors, music and art is very subjective and everyone has their preference. I enjoy having different basses and colors to match the music and mood of the moment. Have a great day/night everyone !!

That one had a mineral stain on the neck that I do not seem to see on this one. This might just be one from the same shipment
Yes, he's a flipper, very active here in TB. By the way, time flies, Doug was there the first week of February, not last week
I like playing detective on these, I also looked for the mineral stain, but it doesn't show in any of the pics. I believe it was around the 10th fret. Notice there isn't a single shot from the front of the whole bass. It is possible that's the same bass.
