That Ice Blue Metallic 55-60CS is my favorite Lakland I've ever played, or in my top 2.

Got a question about the 55-94 MM quad coil tap.
I've been looking for a schematic of the factory wiring of the MM pickup in my case it's the Bartolini 2J Squared Quad Coil with 4- conductor cable. Here's the question.
Is the MM (even the LH3 MM) tapped *Neck Inline Pair/Quad Coil Series Hum Canceling/Bridge Inline Pair*, or
*Neck Inline Pair/Quad Coil Parallel Hum Canceling/Bridge Inline Pair*?
What is the standard from the factory?

Yea, thanks. I had to do a deep dive. I had seen this diagram previously but wasn't sure if it was consistent with the Bartolini quad MM. However, my search discovered it is consistent with the Bartolini, which means that the factory wiring for the 3-position switch (for those that may not know) is:
Neck Side Inline Pair/Parallel Hum Canceling/Bridge Side Inline Pair
I wired my Bart Quad, Parallel Hum Canceling/Bridge Side Inline Pair/Series Hum Canceling
I also have a John East Uni-Pre in it, tone-wise it is a completely different sound from my stock 55-02 with the LH3 electronics. Setting aside the obvious differences between the USA build vs Indonesia 55-02.

55-01 and/or 55-02 owners, can you describe the tone differences between the two? And is there any reason the 55-02s seem to command a little more money?

I have a 44-01 and 44-02 the 4 string versions, I would say the electronics on the 02 models are superior, IMO. Deeper tone, it has a coil tap for the back humbucker and there's more varieties of tones possible. The 01 is a bit brighter maybe tone wise. The 02 has a much stronger signal output then the 01.
The 01s are active only, if the battery dies it won't work, where the 02s can be played in passive, however the battery lasts a long time and is super easy and fast to change.
You can't go wrong with either model, but if you can I'd recommend the 55-02. Or in the perfect world, get both !!

Yeah I bought a used 5501 with upgraded Aguilar pups and pre amp so I have no idea what a stock 5501 would sound like.

To clarify, my 55-01 can do passive mode too by pulling up the volume knob. Does yours not do this?
