Very nice Douglas! Congratulations!
Oh my, that is a gorgeous 55-01! Love the body wood and the roasted neck tops it off perfectly. Can you explain the C logo on headstock? Is this a Lakland variant I’m not familiar with?INCOMING!!!!!
For your viewing pleasure...
Carl has been working on this for just about a year.
He and I picked out the wood together and of course he did his excellent job of putting it all into one nice cohesive package
Believe it or not, the fretboard is rosewood and not ebony even though it is so dark.
Yes...it's a roasted neck...my first
Pickups are EMGs...with an EMG PRE Which JJ recommended
Carl says they sound excellent and I cannot wait.
I really wish I could Deb you it on Sunday but I cannot get down to the shop in time
I will be going sometime next week and then I will be traveling on several of the following Sundays so it may be a while before this gets played in church

that top and with the EMGs, that is very Spector-like, which is a huge compliment from me.
holy time warp...the Kane treatment is really from the wayback machine

This is not a 5501...it's a custom build...just similar in looks to a 5501.
The C means it's a Carlo...built by Carl Pedigo...Lakland's first employee!
Carl runs a company called Chicago Bass Doctor and builds great custom basses....I have several
He works in a shop on the same property as Lakland
So...is it a "Lakland"?
That's a bit of a debate but we all agreed early on in the LOG that these would be accepted within the tribe....![]()

Agreed Gman!
