CONGRATS!!!...and agree with you on all accounts!! Definitely $alty for a passive 4-string shorty and my only real disappointment was the long scale hardshell case. I gigged heavliy with it in 2023 and have loved every minute. I have serial #004.

I have mine in an EPI Casady case. Tight fit but far better than the original junk cases that fell apart.
Are you talking about the hard shell cases falling apart? I have one of the newer brown ones. I just put it away in the closet and use a Gator case with my 44-60.

I did a little digging and it seems the cases are currently made by Douglas. The previous tweed style cases appear to also be made by them.

I haven’t found it specifically spelled out, but if you compare cases, they seem identical with the exception of the pleather covering. It wouldn’t surprise me with people complaining about the quality of the cases.

The case that was available for Skyline full-scale hollowbodies is specific for that wide body model. The EPI Casady cases have an arch on top that provides better protection for a hollowbody. I have two- the second one houses my full-scale (34") fretless Warwick Star Bass. Nice case. Compare it to the original case for the 34" Lakland HB and note the split at the strap peg. Other owners had splits on the long seam and the tops were flimsy.

I owned a Skyline HB for about a decade (bought used) and never had an issue with the case, fwiw.
Now strung BEAD with DR Black Beauties…..sounds like chocolate, so I decided to call him Willy Wonka

Thanks-sounds & plays as good as it looks. Alder body/roasted, flamed maple neck/rw board. I love natural finishes but am not into most "coffee table" tops....but some, like this one, I love.

Took a couple pics. It's a bit tight at the top horn but I didn't have any luck finding something else that wasn't pricey. You could contact Lakland to see what they do for their US fullscale HB. It's a shame they no longer offer the Skyline 34" HB as that body is superb. Sold my Dark Starred one last year and kept the Barts, both 1st year Korean. Notice it's case was split at the same location. Both original cases came to me like that.

MaxSpinrunWilly originally weighed 8.6 lbs, but is now a super svelte 8.5, asince I swapped the chrome knobs for jazz style "flower" knobs. I made the change for aesthetics, but for me, a gram shaved is never missed
