Lakland Skyline Hollowbody

Yeah---I couldn't either---but I think the color has been discontinued on the Skylines, that's why so cheap. Anyway---that was a case of striking while the iron was hot. Everywhere else I was seeing roughly $1400 for these in other colors (in fact, the dealer had a sunburst going for $1399). I doubted that I'd see that a low a price for one---even if one showed up used on eBay.

I've had my silver for a couple of weeks now---it reminds me of my old Gibson EB-2---only on steroids. I am impressed with the varety of sounds, from deep and rumbly to semi-piano. I kept the stock flats on for awhile and it sounds great. I just put some new Rotosounds, and prefer the sound from those---although the flats sound really good.

This thing is also a breeze to play, easy access up and down the neck, nice falt and slim profile---not chunky at all. You can get some fast stuff going with this. This is an impressive bass.

Hi guys. Now this is mine, mine, mine:) . Absolutely beautifull bass. I got band rehearsals tomorrow (CCR cover band). I will then write my thoughts of this. Now I'm thinkin' if I try some round wounds to it. Should I try steel or nickel rounds?

Congrats! Glad you're digging it. Personally, I'd go with nickels for your CCR band.

Oh wow!, Ive been obsessed with the tones from this video for weeks now. It was the first and still the best example of its tonal spectrum. Every tonal option sounds superb. The body construction, the barts, the lebella flats. So far all roads are leading me to sell every thing i own immediately to go get my own.

I replaced the pickups because I just didn't love the neodium pickups as they sounded a bit sterile. This was the right choice for me as the prima pickups are nice and warm.

I was on the fence about a preamp. Honestly, I was able to get one at cost at work and figured, "why not?" I have to say that a 2 band pre really does add a lot of fullness to the sound and really rounds everything out. I played without it and it sounded great but the ore just makes it even fuller without making it boomy or too extreme. I think it's worth it.

Oh ok, fair enough.. i do have a question though. Did Lakland produce this particular model with different pick up configurations? Or have most of you guys on this thread made the modifications yourselves.. i seen you guys mention 3 different pickups and not one mention on the stock 'chi-sonic's'.
