To the OP: I'm 6'4" and I get where you're coming from.
I've been a Stingray 5 player since 1993. I've stayed with them in part because they're a bigger-bodied bass.

I have to admit I am 6'2" and I play a pretty small Cort Curbow 4. But I like being able to easily manipulate it without a lot of work. Several of my bandmates as well as my instructor has commented on how well it sits on me.
My Gibson Les Paul Oversized bass Is pretty ginormous! Also heavy as hell at 12lbs.
A bongo 6 is big and a Roscoe SKB is pretty big too.

I tried out an Alembic Mark King yesterday, and the body seemed uncommonly large, which coupled with a really long neck made it a big bass. However it was comfortable and well balanced.
Also, the Hagstrom Viking reissue has a huge body though it is shortscale.

I thought Rays are smaller than J basses... 
I don't plan on sitting down while playing until, maybe some day, I get a jazz gig. But considering my bass playing skills, that won't be in the near, or even far future.
Some of the basses people considered are pretty hilarious.
I plan on playing 4 stringers for ever, btw.

The older Low End Jazz 7 I had was 34 inch scale, but had a large body and the length was about 2 inches longer than my GT7 - barely fit in a Mono gig bag.
Fewer stringed LEJ's may have the same dimensions.

Washburn AB 95...E NOR MUSS- body is 18"top to bottom and about 52" long- I'm 6'3" 190, it looks like stand up on me-

Alembic's standard point bodied basses are pretty big. Here's an ill-fated attempt to put my 5-string in a Reunion Blues gigbag.
Wound up getting a bag custom made. The bass is 53" tip-to-tip. Most basses are 49 - 51". The body is pretty wide, too.
I think that if you can afford an Alembic, there is no excuse for not having a hard case. I won't even take my Ibanez outside without a SKB case.
Largest? My Series II Entwistle Replica ... when I take it out, folks think I'm carrying a keyboard as the case is huge.
I am 6' 4", and have long "monkey" arms, and very large hands. I found the neck on a hamer 12 string bass was not nearly as difficult to play as everyone told me it would be

There's the Rigel ABG with a 22" lower bout. I want to put a magnetic pickup on it and make it sound like a P-bass!
And this, if you really want to go big without having to go for the DB look.
In the electric world, Mike Lull makes a Jeff Ament signature model which is [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]?
There are some big hollowbodies out there, too. Vinny Colletti makes a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Gretsch's longscale hollowbodies seem pretty big, too.
Also, somebody on TB is making a bass that looks like a Strat with a 34" scale: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/fatstrings-oversized-strat-bass-896463/ - not that huge, but will look giant if in a band with a regular Strat.
And my solution - a bass with a built-in spare.
