I played my last concert this season on Saturday night. It involve a small string group (2,2,2,1,1) backing up a choir of about 30 good singers. Lots of Mozart, a few jazzy and gospel tunes and a string piece by Borodin.
The big highlight was playing Barber's Adagio for Strings with the choir singing the Angus Dei arrangement at the same time. This piece was one of the first classical pieces of substance I played in a youth orchestra when I took up the bass. The bass part is tacit for most of the middle so I got to face the choir and have the sound pour over me.
Sigh, now for the great void until October....
