LATEST MF MID BLUE RIC SALE

UPDATE:
I decided to return the bass/case to get a good bass and case. I called MF to get an RA, and they said they could ship a new case without me having to do the full exchange. I can keep the original case and the new one. Kudos to MF customer service.

I received the replacement case today. When I opened the box I was surprised to find a vintage RIC case! So not only did MF send me a new case to replace the original damaged one, they upgraded me to the vintage case.
BTW, I really like the vintage case. It looks great and the bass fits much betting in the case, IMO. The only thing I like more about the standard case are the latches - I think they are a little better than those on the vintage case.
Consider me very satisfied.

Update on my bass:
As some of you may recall, I purchased two of these basses during the sale. One is on backorder and the other one was received weeks ago. The bass I received had paint issues around the bridge. I decided to keep that bass, return it to RIC and have them fix the problem. The good news: they are giving me a completely new bass. I'm on my second week waiting for the replacement. I've been told that it is in the painting process, but no word on when to expect it to be complete.

The newer finish has a more fine metallic or mica particle/additive (whichever they use), and goes over a different base colour according to sources at RIC.
They used to use a silver (usually aluminum) base with a more medium grain metallic blue top colour coat.
There was also an earlier version of MID which was also darker than both of these.
Greetings: I need some help regarding how the contents of a Ric 4003 ship ... I did the MidBlue Ric sale and after being told they were in stock was later told a year and half wait. After several calls and tons of mis-information, a couple of bait and switch tries, MF agreed to send me a Fireglo at the same price. Last night I received the bass and first thing I noticed it was the Ric "glass" box that had been opened and then taped for shipment. The bass case had some marks on it making it appear it had been taken in and out of the box a few times. When I opened the case first thing I noticed was some fingerprints all over the bass and the white protective paper around the bass out of place. The plastic bag with with the cloth, allen wrenches and paperwork was not sealed. The allen wrenches paper bag was not stapled and had a foul piece of tape holding the contents in. It's apparent the bass has been opened and played with, probably a return. Registration card says a 02/11 manufacture date. Also two marks on the pup cover that look like they were made, not orginal part of the chrome process. The G and D strings buzz like no tomorrow. I've bought $150.00 basses setup from the factory better then this. So, my question is, does the allen wrench paper envelope come stapled, does the goodie bag come sealed or taped, should there be fingerprints and marks on the bass? I feel that I've gotten a return instead of a new bass and would appreciate any thoughts on what I should do? Thanks!
Well, I had a pretty obvious fingerprint on the tape of my Key bag. Basses are made and packed by people, and MF or the shipper may have opened it for inspection. So any number of reasons why everything is not perfect in the box. I guess your expectation of Rickenbacker's packing standard is pretty high.
If there is something wrong, don't hesitate to return it. If there is no problems with the bass, and you're just feeling irritated that it might be a return, you are just risking a worse bass as a return.

Ximaipa....The condition you received your bass in was no worse than if it were hanging in a music store for a week, and you'd still pay $1650.00-$1950.00 for it. You could always return it and go buy seven $150.00 basses if you feel you'd be getting a better value though.
When I got mine last year, the key bag was taped.
I've seen a fair amount of pics including the case candy, and have no reason to believe that there was anything unusual about that.

I notice that they've got several of these returned basses up as used now, but only about $50 off.
I think I'll happily wait for a new one. I had thought about calling and trying to get a MapleGlo now in lieu but I'll leave my order alone and get a brand new bass.
One of the latches on my case was acting weird i called musicians friend and asked if i could swap cases and said it wasnt a biggie they said that i could just get a new bass, i really love my MID tho, i declined , said thanks and have a good day and she said let me just send you a new case, so they sent me a new case and i find out my old case just had a clear plastic wrapping stuck in it , my old case is totally fine and now i have a free vintage case as well.

Well, I finally have resolution to my RIC saga. After almost 5 weeks, my new MID RIC arrived today. The finish looks perfect and the fretwork is significantly better than the last one I sent to them. Amazingly, they did not fix the case handle, blaming that on "shipping". The case was dirty, and it had clearly been sitting on the woodshop floor during it's visit back to the RIC factory. The setup was ok, but needed to be tweaked. That's where I discovered the next issue: the moron who painted my bass didn't remove / mask the truss rod nuts before he painted. Yep, he just painted right over them. I had to scrape paint off the nut before I could get my wrench in there to adjust the rods.
Overall, I'm happy with the bass. It sounds goods, looks good, and, all told, cost me about $1100 total. At that price I can overlook the warranty claim and extended wait.

If you don't want the old case, would you mind sending it to me if I paid the shipping? I could honestly use it.
Well my old case is 100% fine , I was going to call them and say i could send the vintage case they sent me as a replacement back cuz in all honesty it was fine and i feel bad that they sent me a new case when the old one was fine.
