LATEST MF MID BLUE RIC SALE

There was a time when basses had the low A. Then composers wrote music that needed the low E. Now all basses have a low E. But in the last 50 years music has been written where low D and low B notes are needed to play the song corrctly. Of course not everyone will prefer a 5 string or 6 or 7 ... some prefer a 4. All are valid choices. But most players who play 4s need to downtune to get lower notes for some songs.

And I really wish Rickenbacker would make a 5 string bass. But I am also happy to convert a 4 to a 5 when I need to.

Conclusion --->>> I took delivery of a July 2011 Jetglo on 8-26-11 for the price of the $1,104.15 Mid Blue.

This really is KILLER :) All you guys who got those year long waits and were able to turn them around into whatever color you wanted NOW, that's what really makes this a great overall story for me. I was sooooo close to getting one when this started, but I really didn't like the blue and don't really play 4's. But I would have gotten a jetglo one or a sunburst one I think.
Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and say in complete non-jealousy I'm happy for all you guys who picked up these great basses. You should all learn 'Heart of the Sunrise' now :)

oh, and just to let you guys know, martinmcfly is a previously banned [DEL]loser[/DEL] user who has come back under no less than 7 different user names.

from the nature of his posts, and then his pleading posts via the help desk to be let back, he sounds like he's a 15 year old freebasing ritalin. so apologies - i imagine he's gonna come running through a few more posts/threads shrieking like beavis on fire, just bear with us :).

Oddly, I didn't guess that--and I have in the past about others.;) No need for apologies, JT, that sounds entertaining.:D

I could not disagree more.

The small blemishes on the pickup cover polished off very easily.

The bass is so pretty I almost hate to play it.

I did a setup and got the action lower.

It could use a nice wax job with Zymol to really bring out the shine. I may put a black pickguard and a black TRC on the bass.

I was thinking the same thing. Also, maybe black hardware.Any suggestions as to where I can get these items??

I got to witness it. His exit was spectacular.

It was rather like watching somebody poke Superman in the chest, most entertaining.

About colors, I always thought I wanted a jetglo, but this blue is nice and dark and in low light it almost looks black. And I was getting interest in a blue bass lately anyway, so the timing was right. It's been a few weeks now so the stage of GAS where you bask in the glow of new gear has worn off and I still like the color.

So, on the topic of jetglo 4003's and lower tunings- I just got my '06 4003jg back from my daughter, who's had posession of it for a good long time, so I'm stoked to have it back. And, my favorite bass ever, (avatar), has been tuned D standard for a good long time, (thanks Jeff Ric5), and I couldn't agree more that D standard is the perfect tuning for a 4 string bass. I've only ever owned one 5 string bass, and in the end, didn't get on well with it. But a 4 string in D covers everything I need or want to play, so, well I guess that's all I wanted to say. +1 to D, and +1 to the beauty of a jetglo Ric.

What kind of strings do you use for that? I assume you want something that will have a higher tension so they don't feel slack, right?

I like the DGCF tuning ... but I like the BEADG a lot better.

it continues to be, via the hd. :D

Is mcfly the same guy who posted a ton of really gross porn a couple years ago when he got banned? If so, he's a real piece of work.

no, i don't think that's him. this kid is about 15, judging by his help desk rants.

his former user nics that we've found are : martinmcfly, Pete Puma, Fendbassfan, Barely Oakley, bassplunker, Pechanga.

check it :
To john turner. Ive, 'pleaded' to be let back on? What a ****ing liar? To lie like that you, I guess are justifing the obvious child you picked as a moderator (You also might be a grown up, but to lie that you obviously haven't matured yet either). The guy (your mod) called me names for disagreeing with him, then deleted the posts where he did it, then the 2nd I found out he was a mod (it didn't show on my smartphone), I called him a clown and a hypocrite for calling me names and theatening me with infractions when he was the instigator, he banned me. So, FYI, I asked to be banned, because honestly, this proved there is nothing I need out of this forum, especially from a bunch of obvious (I've heard your BS you so called call Bass playing) lack of talent. The funny thing is that the whole TB forum is just a bunch of cranky old ladies flaming anyone doesn't agree with them. Like the moderator who banned me. If you don't believe me, start reading some forums. What's really !
sad is the level of immaturity the people in control of TB have. Just don't disagree with anyone and you'll be fine. Just drink the John Turner Koolaid and worship him like he craves and you won't get banned.

apparently he doesn't realize we can see every deleted post, as well as have a record of all the help desk tickets from all his former accounts. he does have a few things right, though - i do crave worship, obviously, and i have my own brand of kool aid. it tastes like a mix of grape, cherry and chuck norris. :hyper:

sorry for the OT stuff, folks - normally we keep this insulated from you guys, but considering the fact that this kid keeps rejoining and making new nics, i just wanted to make you guys aware in case you start seeing this kind of thing on the forums again, so we can nip it in the bud quick.

ok, that's it for the OT stuff, sorry again folks :). unless of course you do want to see more "scenes from a meltdown".

so are you going to 5-string convert your new one? there was a mod kit that i remember, a long time ago, where you could refit a p-bass to be a 5 string without drilling another hole in the headstock - it had a tuning key on the bridge to handle the 5th string. it was intended to be reversible.

wonder if something like that would work with a ric. if i could get a reversible, non-destructive mod like that that worked on a ric, i'd do it to my 4080 in a heartbeat.

I don't think the 4080 neck could handle the stress of another string, I'm sure mine couldn't, it's VERY thin!
Maybe TI Jazz Flats, they're very low tension.
Also, the neck on mine is very narrow, just not enough room.

yeah, you're probably right.

i sure do wish i could 5 that one out - it sounds really awesome. best ric i've ever heard.
