OK ... I just got the Jetglo 4003 for $1104 ... that is a discount of $845. It is flawless. It need a minor adjustment. The fretboard is beautiful. Everything works and the case is undamaged.

The only thing wrong is it only has 4 strings ...

I am a satisfied customer.

And the one flaw ... The chrome finish on the bridge pickup cover is not perfect. But I usually remove that cheap piece of plastic.

Yes that is the beautiful bubinga they use. They put a nice conversion finish on it and it is typical for a Ric fretboard to look like there is white powder in the tiny crevasses.

Also this Ric has no tailpiece pullup at all.

Also no yellowing on the binding at all

You guys seem awfully confident about flipping these things. However my experience with selling basses on eBay is not good, not good at all.

I baby my stuff, and when I sell it, 95% of the time it's the same as new, what you'd get on a showroom floor, only it hasn't been abused.

And I can tell you the last few times I sold stuff on eBay, they screwed (the buyers) the hell out of me. I sold a GB Shuttle 6.0 with the 12 inch speaker, it was about a year old but in like new condition and even had a new tube in it, worked perfect as I had been practicing with it. The buyer paid 500 bucks, shipped, which as you know is a steal, THEN he turns around and howls it has "scratchy pots". I thought BS I just used this last week and it was fine, but I was like ok let's give him the benefit of the doubt, I told him just spray them lightly with contact cleaner, cleans them up 98% of the time. The buyer howled NO WAY was he gonna spray anything on his precious amp, and what kind of seller am I telling him to do that after he pays for this item in as new condition, and he immediately files with Paypal SNAD (significantly not as described). I ended up having to give this jag 100 bucks back, so he could supposedly take it to a tech to have those horrible pots cleaned (yeah, right). I knew he was screwing me and he knew he was screwing me, but hey he got a great GB shuttle combo for 400 bucks shipped what a deal! (Hell that's a deal I'd take now if I could!)

Next one was even a worse screwing. I had a Greg Weeks signature Traben bass, that again was as new, not a mark on it, played perfect. I sold it for less than half new price, and was lucky to sell it for that, as there was NO demand for or interest in it. These basses have burled tops, so they all look different depending on the burled top, as you can easily imagine. The guy did not like the burled top on this one when he got it. So he started whining, and having already gotten screwed with the amp, I knew he was about to file "SNAD" and start the fun all over again (and as many of you may know, if you sell tangible goods and the buyer files on you, Paypal is GOING to find in their favor, it's when not if). I decided to just get it the hell over with and gave him a refund. He kept the bass. He sent me an email saying "I really didn't intend to screw you when we started this", yeah buddy but you didn't let that stop you did you??? Jerk. So I paid this clown to take the pass, with eBay fees and shipping. Such a deal. In the feedback he left "Got off to a rough start but in the end it all worked out alright". Yeah, you got a free bass like new, I'd say if I'm the buyer that's "alright". I mean why do these jags gotta rub it in when they f you? Come on squeal, louder!

So that's my experience with thieves on eBay. I will not and will NEVER again sell anything there. Period. I just donate my stuff I don't need anymore now, because I'm still money ahead that way as I'm not paying eBay or shipping fees and if I do it right, I get a tax write off of the value to a qualified institution or charity.

So you guys who think eBay is easy money, might want to think before you run into people like I have there. The ones who know the system will get your bass at a discount or free, and you may be lucky to break even. Just food for thought there.

Ebay has evolved into something different in the last few years.
BTW, what was the buyer's name?
I'd like to avoid any dealings with this clown.

All the more reason to sell through the classifieds here, or locally.
If I had bought a 'spare' 4003 to flip, I know I would be able to sell it locally for a few hundred profit.
It might take a few months wait, but it's pretty much a sure thing.
We don't see many around here, and there's always a couple of guys who would be interested, and $1500 is still a good deal.
Bringing one across the border cuts into potential profit pretty quick, though, so no go for me.

PotR and other major RIC dealers commonly sell a new 4003 for $1650, and MF will price match apparently.
That's $1650 all day, any day, but you're limited to either what they currently have in stock, or to placing an order for the colour of your choice.
MFs usualy quoted price is $1949, which is what I paid for mine last year (didn't know about the price match option).

MF doesn't publish the 'selling price' because their dealer agreement with RIC doesn't allow them to publicly post their selling price, just the list price.

This applies to all authorized RIC dealers, but the dealer is free to charge the customer whatever they want up to MSRP.

I don't have his name anymore. I was so mad, I closed the account. I thought screw eBay I'm done. I have since opened another account there but I do not, and never will, sell anything I only buy. As a buyer, if you get tangible goods (do NOT buy anything you download, make SURE it gets shipped to you) then you are pretty much golden there. If the seller screws you, file SNAD. You are pretty much guaranteed to win. As a buyer, that's great, I can buy in near total confidence. As a seller, it's not so good because people figure it out and some of them are all too willing to screw you.

So anyway, I'm sorry I don't recall the names of these folks on there anymore.

Technically it doesn't matter if you do it on eBay or in the classifieds here, if Paypal is involved. They are simply 100% out for the buyer, as far as "tangible" goods go, i.e. anything that is physically shipped to you.

Now, let's look at "intangible" goods, or that which is NOT shipped to you but is downloaded or online. In this case, the seller is free to screw the living hell out of you as Paypal does NOT cover "virtual" goods. It's right in their policies which they will point out to you if need be. My experience in this area comes from playing Everquest II, and online RPG. There is a third party seller of items for this game, LiveGamer, which Sony (the makers of the game) sanctions. I bought some items for the game, and didn't get them, they (LiveGamer) kept asking me to verify who I was, which I did over and over again. After days of this I got frustrated, and told them that I wanted what I paid for, that I had given them all they asked for in terms of verification and that if there was nothing else they needed, they need to give me my stuff, or I'll file with Paypal. After not hearing, I filed a dispute with Paypal. That got their attention, and so they then gave me access to their system to get the stuff, but said I must close the dispute to take the items. I went and tried to get the stuff (I ordered several things) telling them I'll close the dispute as soon as I get my stuff. I got one thing and they saw it and cut me off, and demanded I close the dispute before I could get the rest. I refused, saying how if I closed the dispute, I had no more rights if I got cheated and that I'd be glad to close it once I got my stuff.

They dug in their heels and refused, and I felt like I couldn't close the dispute without getting the stuff because I couldn't trust them. Finally someone from the company kept calling me, I felt like she was trying to bait me to get me to say things on the phone to use against me that I'm a jerk. Well yeah, you try to screw me it doesn't bring out the best in me, does it bring out the best in you? So she flat out told me on the phone she was going to get my account banned with Sony and it would stay that way and I'd never be able to play again. And she did, my account was banned by Sony. I escalated the disputes to claims, and Paypal let them keep the money, because they said they do not cover "virtual" items. So this outfit got paid and deliberately screwed me. They got away with it clean, it's all in Paypal's policies which they sent me a blurb of to justify my getting screwed.

So, if you are dishonest by nature you can make a LOT of money just by cheating people on "virtual" goods. That's why you NEVER EVER EVER buy software on eBay that is "download" only. When some clown on there tries to sell you a program for your PC that retails for 1500 dollars for 150, and tells you there is no CD only a download link he's gonna give you, tell him to shove that right up his *ss and run like hell because he's probably going to screw you (think about it) and Paypal will NOT cover virtual goods so he's gonna get away with it.

Just more FYI so hopefully a few less people here get screwed by these crooks.

Stay informed people, and don't assume ANYTHING in these transactions because a lot of shady people know the system and know how to screw the hell out of you and won't hesitate to do so.

Take it for what it's worth. I learned the rules the hard way and can honestly say I'm out many hundreds of dollars for my life's lessons in how to screw people using Paypal.
