LATEST MF MID BLUE RIC SALE

Both were shipped in the unopened/stapled Rickenbacker "Fragile Glass" box, but my replacement was double boxed by MusiciansFriend.

Interesting... my first one, that I send back, came in a non descript box, nothing indicating RIC on it.
This kinda confirms my suspicion that the first bass sent to me may well have been a return, that they thought they could pawn off on me...
I really hope that the next one, currently on it's way, has the original factory box and is received in acceptable condition.

Well I called MF today ... they told me it would ship in 2013 ... So I asked if I could swap for a different color. I was hoping for fireglo ... but they offered a Jetglo for the $1100 I paid. VERY COOL So it should be here in a week.

Very cool. My Jetglo was shipped yesterday and is scheduled to be delivered on Friday. I gotta give a big thumbs up to MF customer service on this one. I haven't really been impressed with them in the past, but this is really cool. :bassist:

Nice. I am torn, wait until 2013 for my MID, or get a Jetglo, but I'm not much of a black bass guy. If I can swap for a Fireglo...

but I would have loved a mapleglow

Like this one? ;)

A total of 1104.15, when the other thread was open that was a crazy price , but now i see some under that and in other colors in this one , wow. MID is a color i would rather have over black or fireglow but I would have loved a mapleglow

On the first sale I could never talk anyone into a discount (other than a $20 store credit) so I got charged Calif. sales tax on the full $1299, putting it over $1400 (got full credit though). This time my price was $1006 so even with sales tax it was onl $1088.

Mine shipped today.

I still can't believe I got a jetglo 4003 for $845 below their normal selling price.

A 1976 4001 would come from the factory with a conversion varnish finish on the whole bass. Not just the fretboard.

Well, in late 1976 when I tried a couple 4001's in the music store the Fireglow DIDN'T have varnish on the fretboard (it was bare wood like a fender rosewood fretboard, and also had open tuners, you could see the gear). The Mapleglow had varnish on the fretboard and had closed tuners. I bought the Mapleglo even though I wanted the Fireglo because our music director of the worship band I played in at church just happened to come in the store as I was playing the Fireglo and said I couldn't play a red Bass in the Band. That's another story though. They were new Basses but I can't say for sure if they were 1976, that's just the year I bought them.

The mid blue is my favorite color and I'm not looking to spend the cash just yet, so I'll wait.:)

I used to love the Midnight Blue, but after seeing the 1000's of pictures of them here on TB lately, I've grown tired of that color. LOL. I originally was gonna ask for a Fireglo (in fact, I told the MF Rep either a Fireglo or Mapleglo, but I prefer Mapleglo. I didn't want the Jetglo because I already have a Black Bass, but, I also have a Red Bass, so I opted for the Mapleglo.
