I paid twice that for mine and feel like I got a steal. If there's nothing wrong with it when you play it, you will be getting a great bass for a dirt cheap price- if you don't buy it please let me know! Mine does have the single coil neck pick-up, but I love HHs, so if you do buy it and want to trade, I might be interested ; )

I have owned several Carvin products and haven't been happy with any of them. Several years ago, I bought an LB75 for $250. It sounded very muddy. No punch or clarity. The only good thing that came out of it is that I sold it less than one week later for $750

I have a walnut LB-20 with Claro Walnut top. Passive with soapbar humbuckers. Paid almost $1400 new for it 8 years ago. Had it built by Carvin exactly the way I wanted. It's a very nice bass. Clear tone across all 4 strings. No dead spots.

Yes, buy it. I'm very happy with my LB20 and if that LB70 was in my area I'd have already sent the guy an e-mail as to where and when i could pick it up. They are very well made instruments.

That's a nice looking Carvin, especially for $250. Once you remove the thumb rest some filler and black sharpie will make the holes invisible.

I noticed that in the description too. That would have me worried, as an unfinished neck may have encountered some warping, thus why the seller may be letting it go for so low a price. Check it out in person if possible and get that neck sealed with something if you buy it. Other than that, seems like a great deal. Personally, I'd add a preamp to give you some more shaping with those MM style humbuckers. YMMV, just a suggestion.

Back in the 90's I got myself an LB70 fretless. I swapped out pickups for DiMarzio's, tried different strings, bought a BBE Sonic maximizer, dumped my Carvin bass rig at the time and still couldn't get a good tone for the life of me. It was a Poplar body. I stay away from Poplar bodied basses now.
