LDS Cabinets

Thanks - I've traded a few emails with him find him generally responsive although sometimes it takes him a few days to get back to me. Also when I've sent more than one or two questions in an email he doesn't get to all of them. I've sent some final details about my cab and am waiting to hear back from him. I get the impression he would rather do it over the phone. I'm not complaining - so far he has been fine to deal with.
I had Don build me a 15/6 a few months ago. Could not be happier with it. Good product at a good price delivered as promised in agreed timeframe. Lightweight and solid.
I've played 3 amps through it and they all sound great.

I may be the only person who "fell through the cracks", so to speak, when trying to order with Don. I placed an order for a 2x6" cabinet in early of August 2011 and he gave me an estimate of 4-6 weeks at the time since it was a small build. Fast forward to October - he responded after a few days to an email and told me I was up next on his build list - hooray!
Move forward to December -I started thinking something was off when another TB'er, who had posted that he ordered a more elaborate LDS cab a month after me, had posted NCD pics on the thread in December. I tried contacting Don, but he didn't respond to my email, and his phone only went to a messaging service. I posted an open inquiry in the LDS megathread - the moderator, (Chef), posted that he had personally inquired with Don...who had no idea at the time about a 2x6" cabinet order. (NOTE: Chef has since deleted his response, for whatever reason.)
Don responded after the thread activity and sent me a refund on my deposit.
Why am I posting this? It's just to give you another viewpoint from someone who didn't receive a cab and felt lucky just to have walked away with the original deposit. I'm not the norm, though.
Here's a pic of the vert. 4-10 with the PF500 and my two favs for size reference...and it sounds better than bacon-n-eggs on a cast iron skillet!I'd like to hear the vertical 4x10 cab! See that's a cool design..

I have had Don make me cabs before, and those cabs have been stellar in every way. I think he builds better cabs than the mass-produced cabs put out by major manufacturers, and his pricing is better. What more could a bassist ask for?

That thing looks pretty awesome. What sort of drivers are in it? How is the dispersion? Approximate dimensions?
It isnt possible to get that assortment of drivers to have a 4 Ohm impedance unless he is ordering some custom drivers, which I doubt would be possible for three drivers.
It will likely be 5.3 Ohms (3 8 ohm drivers), which for all intents and purposes will be absolutely fine with a SS head like the 7 Pro and should sound fantastic

It's loaded with Eminence Basslite S2010's and rated at 700watts/8ohms. It's about 37" tall,20" wide,and 16" deep and weighs in around 60lbs +/-...
Sonically,I really love it. To my ears,it sounds the same up close as is does at the end of my 21' "leash". The only thing I noticed I have to watch for is it can get 'boomy' with the Carvin and Ampeg heads,but I think that's more an EQ thing as I'm still figuring out the PF's tone controls and the Carvin's set up to push the 1-15 and 15/6/1 stack..
I chose a 3x12 cabinet, inset bar handles, black carpet exterior. Faital Neo speakers. Still working out if there will be a 6" mid or not. Going to be 37-1/2"Hx20"Wx16"D. You all were correct. The cab will come out rated at 1000w @5.3Ohms. Not overly happy about not getting a 4Ohm since I want to most capacity out of the SVT, but I think I can deal with it.
With those full range 12's you might not miss the mid driver. I might think about getting an 8 Ohm 212. See if its enough, then go with a second matching 212. Go with a vertical stack and it would be pretty crushing.
Which SVT is it? If it has a tube power section you may shorten the life of the tubes by running an odd load.
I bought a second-hand jobby so had no say in the design. It's truly an oddball: 8 X 8 with the top 8's being midrange drivers. You can see it on the LDS thread. Built like a tank and carries one of the cleanest low ends I've heard...and I also own Acme's. This cab lives full-time in our trailer and has been my sole gigging rig for the past 2+ years.
Edit: I use either a DriveCore 1500 or 2500 fed by any number of pre's.
