LE FAY---:)

Hi guys,

Have anybody a Le Fay bass? If yes any experiences? Sound,growl,tone,comfortability...etc. I've looked at Herr Schwartz, mainly because of it's price  and of course sound. I like it,but I don't know if it can produce this sound at any live environment and is it a good bass for rock/metal and nu-metal(I mean metal with slapping and tapping bass lines. :D )

Thank you for the response!

With Lefay you can't go wrong! Period!
With 'Herr Schwarz' (='Mr. Black') you won't get lost in the bandsound...and it is just a dream to play even though it is the 'beginner-level' instrument from this company. Lovely highs, growly mids and fantastic bass (not boomy at all). One of the best B-strings I've ever heard!

What do you think how long does it take,to manufacture a "Herr Schwartz"? Months, years,or just weeks? :)

Oh and I don't know whether I should choose the active or the passive variant. What do you think?

lefays have a great b string.

i sold my (active) herr schwarz about a year ago, because it has not enough growl.
the parallel pickup mode was really nice and the slapsound was perfect.
the action was ultra low and it has a very thin neck... ahhh why did i sold my lefay ?!?!?
well, because i bought myself a nice 30th stingray :) it has more growl

if you can speak german, you can do a search on bassic.ch - a big german bass forum.
we have some threads about the herr schwarz

here is the myspace site of lefay:

ah! my thread!
yes, I'm LeFay Endorser, and I own the Herr Schwarz, and the Waran, both Instrument are top notch, both are passive models.
there aren't much 5-stringers outthere, I'd love to play, but the LeFays certainly are, the playability is superb!
check the myspace from LeFay I made: Link Removed, there you can hear an active Herr Schwarz.
any questions are welcome..

ah, yes, building time varies, I had to wait 6 months for each.

edit: and on my profile you can hear the Waran with the new recording of our band...

i love mine...also a herr schwarz 5, passive...i play heavy rock with it, but it slaps incredibly well and the action is perfect for tapping type stuff, but that's all set up stuff that any well made bass could be set up to do...i've got soundclips if you're interested...not live, but you would get the idea...i'm sure drucocu has some stuff, too

Oh yes I'm really interested in those clips. How can I hear them? Have you got any link or so? :)

There's sound files on the lefay website.
The are fantastic and Reiner is a real fanatic.
He now does his own bridge too, since ABM is no more.
Reiner is without doubt as good a luthier as ANY and better than most.
He is also a very personable guy.
