Lead Guitarist a Weasel...

Actually No Im not. I eplained the situation.that's Not trashing...

.... he has an Ego and a bad attitude... this jerk...

:/
Explaining the situation doesn’t change it. He’s probably explained the situation as well, saying people asked him to join a band but the band doesn’t want to progress as an average band would, etc. If he’s saying bad stuff about you to others while explaining his side, it’s still trashing. Same thing goes both ways. Him talking with the other bandmembers without you there is not some betrayal- they wanted him for the band and then he finds that it’s not going to be a normal band, so discussing it with the people who asked him to join should be expected.

Perhaps I should've explained myself better. What I mean by "Trashing" me is telling lies. Evidently this guy thought I was removed from the Bands group text, I wasnt. He said I was always late for practice, I never was, in fact I arrived to practice before he did. Said he had to show me how to play my parts on over half the songs, which is also a lie.
I did ask him what the "Change" was on One song. When they realized I also received his "text" I was quickly removed from the group text. Singer texted "Sorry, that wasn't meant for you". I simply replied, "Too late now"

OMG!!! A band member wants to add songs, get a website and a band name. The jerk! What’s next? He wants to gig? Double jerk!!

Weren’t you trying to start a band? Or did you just want a jam session every two weeks?
Dude....when the band doesnt have its current songs down, whats the point of adding newer ones?
IMO, Its the difference between a "solid" performing band and mediocre band

Don't worry about it. People who go around trashing others say more about themselves than the folks they are badmouthing.

Gonna be the first guy here to play advocate for that red scary looking dude with the horns...

Sounds like this guy wants to get things moving along, sooner as opposed to later. I get how his intentions don't work with your schedule, but I'm not too sure that throwing the towel in was the best choice. Hearing someone out and then discussing it with the others and coming to compromises seems like a better way to go if you want to have a successful band.

Doesn't it seem like they'll be better off with him and not you than the other way around?

Why would you not try to go along with his plans? A band name is a good thing to think about and agree upon - sooner, better than later. If he's all excited about a website, he can work on one. That'll take up his song learning time for sure. Then you could take whatever songs he suggests, and learn whatever you can. You'll have to put in a lot of work if you want the band to get off the ground. And be good.

I don't know all the details so I'm sure there's an argument for everything I said - but I don't see that guy being out of line. I see him being enthusiastic, which is great. I'd much rather take a deep breath and deal with someone like that, than someone who doesn't have time to learn songs and think about what needs to be done to get a band off the ground.

If you want a laid back hobby kind of thing that rehearses more than it gigs, that's fine too - and then I guess it's all good. You shouldn't be with these people, and you're not.

I agree 1000%. I would much rather be in a band with someone I have to push myself to keep up with than deal with a slug that won’t practice on his own and holds everyone back. Can I have this guys name and number? I need a guitarist like this in my band.

You can dream up you own version, but where are you getting this "slug that wont practice" angle from?
Because that was not the case...

You walked from your band that you formed. I realize that bassist tend to be introverts to some extent, but come on man, stand up. Don't forget that perfection is the enemy of good enough.

I was not calling the OP a slug. I was only saying I have never been in a band where I found myself wishing the other members would take it slower. However, I have been in many bands where the opposite is the problem.

I'm putting a band together and we're hitting 5 new tunes a week. Once a month we take a week to regroup, work on issues that aren't fixing themselves. Everything is getting better as we play together longer (this is a new style for all of us). If you wait until each tune is perfect before moving on to the next, you'll never get out of the basement.

Exactly what I was trying to say.

And perfection takes time. Good Enough is for people who have lower standards. AND, perhaps the Bass players You know are introverts...Dont use such a Broad Brush

Good enough gets you gigs while other bands sit at home woodshedding. Nobody in the bar will care if you sub an eight note run for a 16th note passage. Nobody. Variety of tunes will always please the crowd more than perfection on a few. Even the original band changes things and simplifies things on tour. It's all about balance. Meanwhile, the band that you formed will be performing without you. I think my standards are just fine.
