Lead Guitarist a Weasel...

Yet when you can't play a song where the drummer doesn lose time, of the singer doesn't forget lyrics, you would think you'd want to go over the song again to at least be able to play through. Some people are satisfied with seeing bands that are just "Good Enough" ...

So, why is the guitarist at fault here? Sounds like the husband and wife are not good enough or dedicated enough to pull this off. I'd dump them and keep the guitarist who's actually enthused enough about the project to drive it.

First - you seriously brought in a husband/wife team in to the band?! Are you crazy??? That was the beginning of the end. If they have kids, that’s the end of the end. (Full disclosure: I’m married with kids.).

I played in a band with a married couple - lets just say “awkward” was a good day.

Second, this weasel guitarist. How dare he put in more practicing time, learn all his parts, want to add more songs, and be organized about getting the logistics all together to prepare you guys for gigging! Didn’t he know this was a band where no one practices their parts at home, and you spend a 3 hour practice working on 4 songs?

Tell me - what was the purpose of this band? And were you upfront with the other members about it? How long were you together?
First off, Pay Attention. The Hub/Wife team was not an issue. And I had no issue with the guitarist learning new songs. My issue was that he wanted to work on those new songs when we didnt even have the initial songs down. He wanted to play the new songs even though We All faltered on the first songs.
I don't see the logic of saying "Our band knows 30 songs" when you play 'em half-azzed...

Dude....when the band doesnt have its current songs down, whats the point of adding newer ones?
IMO, Its the difference between a "solid" performing band and mediocre band
I dunno. You can't gig without a significant amount of songs. I've learned big blocks of songs (recently, for a "specialty" show). Nothing wrong with having a good amount of homework to do.

Pay Attention. The Hub/Wife were not an issue...some people can't master basic reading!

Ok, not the husband (keys), but the singer is forgetting lyrics. So, she is a problem along with the drummer. Still not the guitarist, who's crime is trying to move the band along. You obviously had issues with him prior to this band, but he's not the problem here.

All those issues were discussed ahead of time. Everyone appeared to be on the same page....
OK, I guess I just don't get it. You start a band, you lay out the parameters, everyone agrees, the guitar player tries to change everything, then you quit the band?

Why couldn't you just say, in front of everyone, "We agreed on X, Y and Z. If that's not what you want to do, this probably isn't a good fit. Thanks for your time, but we'll find someone who is more in line with what we all agreed to." Then show him the door.

I was in a band and before I joined I made sure that we were all on the same page of doing material that the audience would know. Everybody agreed but the drummer kept suggesting these obscure songs. Every time I'd say, "When I joined the band we all agreed we were doing material that the audience knows. If you don't want to do that, then I'm not a good fit for this band." Eventually we got rid of the drummer.

It looks like you opened this thread for sympathy from the community, to tell you that your ex guitarist was out of line, and you did the right thing.
You didn't get that, and are pissed off that people called you out.
You've not listened to any input given to you, or looked to yourself at all regarding fault.
My advice is that you take a step down from whatever you're on, and look to yourself before you point fingers. And when you do point a finger, know that the other three are pointing right back at you with guilt.

As I previously stated, WE All had momens where mistakes were made...He wanted to keep bringing songs in and when I and the singer said let's get the other songs down before we introduce even more songs, he would pout and say that he is "Chasing his tail" and "Maybe I need to rethink this"....
I've dealt with Attitude and Drama back in my 20s, at my age, Its not Happening...

I see a horse....

He’s injured, bleeding, on the ground...

He’s not moving, I fear he might be....

Yes.

Sadly, he is without breath. He is deceased.

Yet I see a crowd approaching with fists raised. I see some baseball bats, and various other club like weapons.

These people are angry and they’re approaching this motionless, lifeless animal.

Oh... the humanity!
