What are the best fingers to use for metal?![]()
Dont really like this thread but just wanted to say thanks for this, I am trying to learn as much theory as I can and it sucks to start out in scales and chords (other than the real basics) and have been looking for ways to practice learning both other than playing them up and down over and over again.
I like a lot of these ideas even though I dont fully understand a lot of them yet, I hate how most books just throw a scale at you without actual ways to learn it instead of just memorizing the pattern.
Hope you write more like what you just did as it gave me a lot of ideas.
This thread is a perfect example why this sub forum needs much stricter moderation.
All things being equal if there were stricter moderation you'd get a slap on the wrist for discussing it in public.
Or do you consider some more equal than others?
Moderation would help keep threads on topic instead of getting 10 guys arguing about how their extensive curriculum for learning the bass is the only one (and some of them probably don't even teach). These kinds of threads end up being for the self-gratification of people not really addressing the OP's question, or briefly addressing it then hijacking the thread to show off how much they know.
In an open forum you take the good with the bad. What you're talking about sounds more like something approaching a group blog. If it were possible to have truly impartial, participatory moderation I might be more inclined to agree with you but the reality is the moderators here are spread far too thin for anything other than superficial participation and have no education in impartial adjudication.
On the web there is no such thing as impartial because world-wide, it serves to bring us closer but really just highlights how far away we are from each other sometimes in physicallity and thought.![]()

Thanks for posting all that though. Seriously. Before, someone might have actually taken your "advice" as meaningful, but by you weighing in on the importance of staying ignorant and shortsighted, it will hopefully dissuade them from further doing so (good job with the ad hominem at the end too, that really goes a long way to legitimizing your points).

OK, serious answer...I use the fingers attached to my handsId like to have my question answered though..
