Leaving your bass in a car

I'm with the no problem camp on this one too. I've had instruments in my trunk on the road through all kinds of weather. Through Arizona in the summer. 112*f, (which translates to much hotter in the trunk) to winter through Colorado. Never a problem. Think of all bands that tour. Their stuff is in a hot/cold non insulated truck or van traveling through dry hot to humid, to damp and cold. From extremely hot or cold into well air conditioned or heated venues.

I left a guitar that had binding around body in a car. Caused the binding to start lifting off of the body. Bad idea.

Had a valuable bass stolen from my car on a snowy night decades ago. I strongly advise, don't leave it in the car.

Yes but I've had a lay off for a while as I've been studying. Now that's finished I'm back on it and don't want too long a break again so soon.

Here is your answer, you don't know hot until you have been inside a shipping container on a really hot day. Most guitars shipped that way are going to spend at least a month in there, if they're fine, yours will be fine.

Or even the semi trailer going from California to Minnesota. Geez, my house will have bigger swings than the OP describes if the AC is tuned off. Bunch of worry warts on here.

Yobboes won't get near it as it's an international airport right next to the terminal so in a fairly high security area. Lots of surveillance and patrols and in a fenced in compound.

im going on holiday for 2 1/2 weeks. The first week I'll be abroad and leaving the car in a secure car park at the airport. I'd like to have my practice bass (cheap Ibby GSR 180) around for the other week and a half. Would leaving it in the car be a bad idea? I'm not worried from a security point of view as it will be out of sight and in a 24 hr patrolled fenced off car park next to the terminal. It's more from a neck point of view. Will the day/night temperature change affect it? It'll be in the Northern UK so daytime max mid 20sC (70sF) nighttime around 12C (53F) a change if around 10 degrees C (20F) in reasonably humid conditions. Is this a really bad idea?

I pretty much bought my PJ Mustang to be the dedicated traveler for situations like yours. It does well when left in its bag in a car, although I try not to leave the car in direct sun whenever possible. I haven't had any issues with the Rumble 25 I bought to travel with it.

I guess everything is relative. I lived in Phoenix AZ for 30 years. Temps in the 70s is an average winter day. Solid body instruments in the car, no problem.

Go for it. Basses are pertty tough.
At most you may need to adjust the neck.

Instruments are subject to extreme temperatures while being shipped and nobody gives it a second thought. I wouldn't worry about it. At worst, you might have to do a minor neck adjustment.
