Also im a little confused. I didnt know Ernie Ball made instruments, i thought (clearly ignorantly) that they only made strings etc...?

They, do...I'm ordering a lefty stingray tomorrow, 'cause I play lefty too, lol. But about the Bongos, EBMM makes only 4 and 5 string lefty models. Even though it's years away, I can't wait for them to make a 6 string Bongo lefty model. Although, I think you can special order them, not sure about that though.

It's also the only 2 PUP model they make in lefty right now too. I'd love a lefty HH 'Ray or Sterling.

Ha ha PJmuck, im actually calling my local MM distributor tomorrow to see if they do a sterling lefty style. I cant find info about one anywhere, but i reckon theres one outthere somewhere.....

The bass on the right is my Black Cherry Burst SR4. To answer and clarify some of the questions asked above about whats available for us leftys at Ernie Ball:

Stingrays, Sterlings and Bongos are all available left handed in any pickup configuration except for the piezo option which is not available for any lefty. They are also available in any color offered.

There is an up charge for lefty basses but I believe its less then $100.

The Bongo 6 is not available left handed and cannot be special ordered.

The latest models including the Reflex and Big Al bass are not available left handed.

Ernie Ball/Musicman does not make any instruments in advance so every bass must be ordered through a dealer. The dealers may place orders to have product in their stores which is why you usually see the most common color options in stores such as Black Stingray 4's which I believe is their most common instrument made.

I found my Trans Orange SR5 and my Black Cherry Burst SR4 both in stock through my local retailer and therefore did not have to wait for them. I bought the black and maple SR4 used through Craigslist and the True Gold Bongo was actually ordered through my retailer. I had to wait only about 10 weeks for the Bongo to be made and it cost no more then one that would have been in stock.

Hope this helps clear up some confusion.

Ahh, you left out the most important restriction: NO 2 band preamps for us lefties; we get stuck with the vastly inferior sounding 3-banders.

Is this a new policy now? Previously, they were not offering 'Rays or Sterlings in a two PUP configuration for lefties, though I have seen one or two. But I believe the ones I saw were one offs specially built.

Im calling the blokey today. The MM site (uk) wasnt very helpful when it comes to what you can get lefty or rightie but the US one is. There is unfortunelty by the look of it an addition £65.00 for lefty config.....gggrrrrr. Thats what we get for being special

the floor is a Chinese Warrior and a 2008 GSR200FML that I put a Jackson bridge and a Barden -J pickup in and threw the PHAT2 in the garbage and put a Jackson j2000 pre in it's place.
