Leo Quan Badass III bridge shortage?

I'm completely confused on why it is so hard to find a BAIII chrome or nickle 4 string bridge anywhere. It looks as if Fender may have bought up the entire stock to put on their custom classic jazz basses maybe? I was wondering if anyone knew why these bridges are so hard to find right now.

Fender bought 1000s of them for the custom classic and the Geddy Lee jazz basses. Considering that they are out of stock everywhere, people are selling them for $200+ on Ebay.

What doesn't help, is that according to my sources, Leo Quan was having health issues (that was according to Allparts), and being a rather small company, they were out of production a year or 2 ago. The BAIII is used on that Frank Bello signature, and the BAII is used on the Geddy Lee, and Mike Dirnt. Fender has been doing their own high-mass bridges on American Standards that seem to be a sort-of BAIII clone, and the Matt Freeman signature Squier is supposed to have that bridge (if it's ever released in the US).

So, will the Quan bridges be highly sought after and rare and expensive? I am holding on to mine and looking for another; but I won't pay more than $90 for it.

It has been available for two weeks now. MF & Music 123 have been shipping and about 3 sellers on ebay.

This has probably been covered elsewhere, but why do we like this bridge so much? I put one on a P years ago and while it was certainly an improvement, I am unsure why it its so desired over its competitors. Anybody?

I traded an old Mustang bass for a Fender Precision back in 1999..
(wondering if the previous owner is on these forums!)

Anyway, the Precision came with a Badass II bridge.
It really does give the bass a different character.
I guess they're popular because they're tried and true.
Much like the P's and J's they're stuck to!

I checked MF and Music123 and came up with nothing. Leo Quan's are great for Fenders, as they're designed to match up with the pre-existing holes, which is always a plus, as I never like drilling away at my basses. They look and sound great too. Another thing I noticed is Modulus has been putting BAII's on some of their FU 4 basses. It drives me nuts that Leo Quan can't just stamp out more of the BAII and BAIII.
