Awesome and always unsung bassist and composer! One of the hottest producers during the 80's! Here's one of my favorite songs and basslines by Leon.
A couple more great basslines. Dude was prolific with coming up with them.

That Rickenbacker with the flats and mutes sounded so good! It sounds like he used a pick on that track too. Man, I missed R&B with that full orchestration with a string section!
In 1981, Leon described his production process by saying, "My ideal is to have the whole record sing, to work on the music tracks so they take on the same character as the vocals."
I saw Leon Sylvers live twice. The first time was with the Sylvers. I remember Leon, Ricky, and Foster all had Rickenbacker basses and they played Stanley Clarke’s “School Days.” The second time, he was an opening or middle act on a three act concert bill and he was playing with his band, Dynasty.
