Er, something I've been wondering: Who calls him that?
Oh yeah, and I take it back, Sausage = Amazing. Good call. Some of Claypool's hardest hitting grooves IMO. Heres to the Man is badass!
I think everyone who is a fan of Claypool really needs to hear sausage. temporary phase has such a nice groove to it.

Apart from Primus, I've got som Frog Brigade stuff, but that is only the tip of the iceberg so far as I've been told.. what else is there?

Well, the real obvious one is Conel Les Claypool's Bucket of Bernies Brains, which is very recent. (Les, Brain, Bernie Worell, and Buckethead) Bernie Worell is amazing.
Sausage: That's the original Primus lineup. You even get to hear an early version of Toys go Winding Down.
Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel: Not that great IMO. Les does a lot of everything on it, guitar, bass and drums. The songs with featured musicians are pretty good, including a spoken word (surprise) Henry Rollins song. Also, this has his original cover of "Awakening."
Oysterhead: Les with Stewart Copeland from the Police and Trey Anistasio from Phish. If you dig Frog Brigade, this is much much better... also, Claypool doesn't sing all the time, horray.
Eh, I don't know if this counts, but: Adrian Belew - Side One: He played bass on this quite a bit. Adrian is the man!
I'm actually tired of him doing all these side projects, that's the reason Primus is so much better than all his groups, Primus has had time to develop. It's like he starts a project, does one album, then leaves. Not cool... a lot of the time, bands don't develop their best material first album.

Yeah, that's why I think Claypool is a terrible soloist, all of the solos he has that are great were written by someone else. Everything else is just, meh.

what other solos are covers? and are you including solos that are in the middle of songs or just straight up bass solo songs when u say he is a bad soloist?Matt Till said:

About HIS solos, this is an opinion I share with a few other peeps: He just throws on a wild effect, and shreds I guess.
