Les Claypool's New Bass!

Just looked at his site...hideous! To me :) Never thought I'd say this, but I think Les' new bass looks pretty cool, and I am no fan of the 'furniture' basses, or those CT's that looked like they should only be played by wizards. Anyway...I think his newest one is the best looking one yet :)

That's one of the funniest things I've read in a looooong time.
I'm having trippy visions of a 6.2' wizard with a massive hat playing a CT. -> I do love ct's though ;)

Just got back from Primus in Indy 10th row center. New bass sounded phenominal live!

Lucky bastard!

Absolutely awesome!
I bet you were more than a little jealous, I certainly am... ;)

Absolutely! Les was a great and very friendly to the kids! I have some video of Les and my son talking while they are jamming (trading licks) - priceless!

Also something that suprised me, is that it's a P pickup config.

No, just ONE of the split pickups. :D

Of course we HAD to make one!

Thanks, Les!!! :hyper:

Um... celeb production models usually suck, thats all.

Usually when one of these big names put out an instrument the one you get is actually a sad imitation of the custom shop model they actually play. Billy Sheehan is an exception, his green yamaha? I think? Anyway he actually uses one straight off the line so thats the one exception I can think of.

There is some real good wood in the Marcus Miller sig fender.....So lets not lump everything together now.

saw Primus in Raleigh a couple nights ago. great sounding show and the new bass is pretty sick. i got some shots of it, but no better than ones already posted.

actually came on here looking for info on the "Rainbow bass" b/c i noticed the other night it had fretlines, but i always thought it was a blank plank. watching the video for "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver" doesn't really help b/c i can't make it out. also, the video shows the bass before CT put the horn on it so no telling how much work has been done to it over the years.

so...does anyone know whether he had lines put on the bass or whether they have always been there? and to get back on topic real quick, i think the new bass looks and sounds awesome while he's wearing it...i wouldn't buy one b/c i'm not him and don't play like him and couldn't, even WITH that bass. i'd look pretty silly sporting that on Sundays at my church. i do hope he makes lots and lots of money off it, though. nothing wrong with harvesting fruits of your labor.
