This - 2011 Gibson Les Paul Standard OversizedI mainly use an Epiphone Les Paul Special Bass. I was wondering does anyone else use a Les Paul bass? If so why?

I owned one of these for a couple of years back in the early 80s. It was my first Gibson bass as well as my first short-scale bass.

Exceptionally well-built, but somewhat of a polarizing instrument that one was. I wouldn't mind grabbing another one at some point in the game.

Polarizing how, looks? Or sound? Or something else?
The biggest turn off for me was the ergonomics. Maybe it's because I've grown up in the Leo-designed camp and I'm used to that basic shape, but the LP bodies just feel awkward to me.
