I caught a band on New Year's Eve ( after we'd finished our set) and the bass player was wielding a big fan-fret Ibanez 6 identical the one hanging on your wall there. A monstrous instrument with a tone to match. Very impressive.

Yes, basically it has a slight contour, Nordstrand PU, Darkglass Pre. Its a killer bass, I rarely touch the bridge pick ups on the other 2, so I wanted it simple.
What kind of QC issues did you run into?
I ran into a similar QC thing with the same model 5 yrs ago. I tried 2 of them and sent both back. It was a shame because I thought it was a real nice bass otherwise. I'm too gun-shy to give it another chance.
I'm looking at the Ibanez SR306EB for another sixer.
The bridge wasn’t centered on the body causing the strings to be more to one side of the fretboard, and the individual bridge pieces at the tail end were not lined up correctly. Some were too close to each other and they all had little tilts so they were angled slightly different ways. It was almost like a 5 year old had put them on. It was severely neck heavy too, not a QC issue but still too much for me. For a bass that costs that much money I was like NOPE!
The first one I got had what I think was black shielding paint slopped all over the bottom of the bass and they attempted to sand if off, totally mucking up the satin finish, and there was still a bunch left. There were also two huge gouges in the top of the headstock, like someone whacked it with a hatchet. It looked like garbage. I sent it back and exchanged it for another. The 2nd one had a big dent/gouge in the upper horn, like someone slammed it with an ice pick. I gave up after that.
Were they made in Indonesia? Every bass or guitar I’ve ever gotten that had major QC issues are from there. I can usually find a decent instrument in person but seems like anything ordered online is a turd haha
I'm not sure if they were made in Indonesia, it was 5yrs ago. It could have been. It was disappointing as they were nice bases otherwise. The one thing I don't like about them is on the battery being in the electronics compartment, requiring removing more screws. Ugh.
I built the Warmoth Gecko in 1998 but it didn't last long. I sold it after a couple of years. Pay no attention to the pesky 4 bangers...
