I just got the blacked out hardware and string on my Yam RB170 installed not two weeks ago. I have had the bass about 10 years now and thought I would make something old feel new, save money, blah, blah. The day I restrung her I bought a Hofner Ignition ....had to have a short
scale .

After the beautiful BFR Stingray in Black Sugar finish that I had to sell because it was too heavy for comfortable gigging, I had to replace it with another black beauty.

I'm back in the Fender Jazz game.

American Pro Jazz. Finally I own the color combo I've always wanted - black / maple. Originally it came with a mint green pickguard, but I had to put my favorite - matte b/w/b, reminiscent of 90s Stingrays that I've always loved (and did the same for my BFR Stingray).

Set that baby up and it plays beautifully, and sounds great.

Dark "Moonburst", bluish center, black edge with Ruthenium plated hardware. I usually do a more traditional color sunburst but thought I would try something different this time.

Squier body, Fender humbucker, Lowe's fretless medium scale conversion neck. I have D'Addario half wounds on it which give you a nice stand up sound with fingers, and nice mwah with a pick.

These glorious beasties still have my favorite necks of all. If I could afford it, I'd put one on almost every parts-bass I've assembled.

Hard to get more black there, short of staining the fretboard and slappin' on some DR Black Beauties. Sadly, I had to give that one up…a decision I'll keep kicking myself over for years to come. So, to salve my butt-hurtiness, I assembled this rather nice (if I do say so myself) "Projekt Black" parts-bass.

The body is from a Fender Classic '70s Jazz (exactly the same as the MIM Geddy Lee-sig) and the neck came from a Squier Standard "Black & Chrome" Precision Special, so it's actually a Jazz-spec'd neck.



That was the exact same sentiment that came my way when I showed the new, cosmetic mods I made to my Fender Blacktop Jazz.

Hipshot tuners as well. It’s the best sounding and feeling precision I’ve ever played. It’s one of a kind.

She seems to be settling into her growing pack, although she seems a bit more active than the Alpha pair...
