I just modded my cheapo Squier Bronco. put a black Musicmaster PG on which I routed for a Gretsch 2202 humbucker. And I sprayed the neck with a honey colored nitro lacquer to make the maple look less pale

My 28,6" scale 5 string Ibanez GSRM25 Mikro bass, that I tuned in F# standard, as in 2 half steps above standard E tuning, F# to D, gauge .090-.074-.054-.042-.030 strings, poplar body, maple neck with a jatoba fretboard, and with a bit a gray paint, a gray decal and new knobs and a switch, which are purely visual as I wired the 2 J pickups in series directly to the output jack socket.:

That Series III looks really amazing.

Still blows me away at what $113 can deliver. I bought this as a trial Fretless. I have since bought an Ibanez SRF700. No plans to get rid of the Rogue. It has a uniquely different vibe then the Portamento. I mentioned on another thread, if your an old guy, this is the "Golden Age" for excellent, affordable instruments.

I've had several black basses but this one is my current favorite, the ebony fingerboard is a bonus for me.

I'd prefer a solid black 'guard, black control plate and black neckplate and black neck and pickup screws. I replaced the chromed pickguard screws with black and the black knobs with chrome skirted knobs but I'm not sure about them yet.
