What's it's story? Does it have it's own thread?I've done this on several occasions, too and my "DIY Sharpie Tint Technique©" does work very well. Additionally, there are ways to safeguard that treatment.
- Wave a Sharpie Permanent Marker with your color of choice at the pinstripe.
- Let dry for half an hour.
- Fold a paper towel enough times to create a burnishing surface and use it to rub off the excess dye.
- Add more layers as needed and repeat steps two and three.
- To seal the dye in place, apply a layer of Brush-On Krazy Glue or something similar.
…and after!
Some colors will give you a color-shift depending upon how the light hits it, what I refer to as a "scarab effect". For example, the classic Sharpie Blue yields a blue/purple shift.
Unfortunately, sealing it with glue does lock in and protect the dye, but it eliminates the scarab-effect, so the one pictured above is sans glue. That's fine with me. All I have to do is remember that I might get some blue streaks on my fingers if I brush up hard against the edge of the guard. (#NoBigDeal

All I know about it as far as story goes is it's a version exclusive to Guitar Center and Musician's Friend.
There are posts and a thread about them which is how I became aware of them.

This one has a quilted maple top with transparent black finish.
No pots on this one!

And a twelve string beast. Also with quilted maple top and transparent black gloss finish on the top. Sides and back are matte black.
The Brooks are a tough act to follow but here goes. Just got this a few weeks ago, the sound is amazing.
I love basses with black finishes, especially matte black. This is my Schecter SLS Elite Evil Twin 5, my EBMM Stingray Stealth 4HH, and my Schecter Michael Anthony Signature PJ. They are all fantastic, well made instruments and each have a very unique sound and feel. Black on black gives me a heart attack

Oh, really? Wow, that's different-looking than I would've expected from bubinga, whatever oil finish Warwick uses on theirs must have a fair amount of color in it. Beautiful bass, congrats!Thank you, The fretboard is Bubinga on top of a roasted Maple neck.
