Let's see those beautiful Black Basses

While I was away I picked this Black Beauty up: Dean Exotica Supreme - 2013 model when it was really supreme to the other Dean Exotica Models. Gloss Finish, Mahogany top, sides and back, Mahogany neck, Dean DMT I2EX Preamp w/Tuner with Aphex Aural Exciter and Big Bottom Circuitry, Multiply with Celluloid Body Binding, chrome hardware, rosewood bridge, rosewood fingerboard, 34" scale, real MOP inlays on the FB and real MOP Rosette inlays. Still has original Phosphor Bronze strings which have to go, just too squeaky.

This is a wonderful Frankenbass I made, it is my only P, it’s a keeper! First I found a sweet MJT aged flame neck which had a square heel. I was surprised to see a ‘83 US body w/ a 4 bolt neck AND tilt adjuster. The square neck cavity allowed me to use this neck on a regular P format. It just happened to be Black. The whole build was like this with great oddball parts I would run across. Hand tooled leather pickguard? Works for me! Abalone top knobs to match the neck inlay? Hell yes!

Here’s my ‘92 Ibanez SR885. Something was damaged internally when I got it and it was barely putting out any sound even with the pups super close to the strings. I had ambitions to put some EMG J5s in it and a 4 knob BQC preamp...turns out there’s just barely not enough room onboard to fit all that in there, so I had to scrap it and just use the stock J5 pots. I kinda like it better in this config though, now I’ve got a simpler J bass setup. Still waiting on some new knobs to come in the mail.
