Thanks! I gotta admit, the inspiration for this color/finish was a boat that I saw sparkling in the sunlight. A bass boat, even!
Thanks its just a beater bass.. But I love it.. It sounds good, plays well, and looks OK
How would you feel about turning a olympic white body into an aged 3 tone sunburst. It's one of Nino's and I need a burst for my Judas Priest tribute band
What about the "version" of LPB in the illustrated Fender and Bacon's Bass Book that looks very royal blue? I've never seen that in person, but it looks killer.
Here's my SX Jazz 5. I love LPB, and beleive its the best color for a fender style bass.

Yeah, that's just due to the lighting, I'm afraid. You can see that the photo was cut out from an artificially lit photo with a dark background, by the yellowish light reflecting off the metalwork.I bought mine (see above) in the hope that it would look something like that one, as in this picture (from the website where I bought it) it looked a lot darker ...
Also, as another example, I don't know who the guy with this original '60s P Bass is, but again, I'm sure that the lighting and contrast levels played a part in making his bass look such a deep blue (unless maybe he is actually made out of walnut and the picture is in balance
) ...As I said before, LPB is a tricky one to photograph (although not as bad as Shoreline Gold
).

Well here is old Lake Placid Blue in action... This song is a pain in the butt to get down and grooving like it should I still think I could lock in the pocket a bit more but its getting there.. Its def a tour de force..

In the close up pic, it almost looks like a sparkle finish, but in the larger pics it a appears very uniform, and "normally" metallic. Which is more correct in person?

depends on the lighting to be 100% honest if your in bright lighting say like direct sunlight where the close up was taken it looks more metallic. If your in darker non direct lighting it looks more uniform.. But this is how metallic finishes look.
