Let's see your Bass Rig

Well, I have TWO possible conclusions reading through this thread -
  1. I am lazy and don't want to carry much weight - OR-
  2. There are a bunch of people out there with a MUCH stronger back than mine!
LOTSA nice rigs there, though!

Dan
Haha. I agree. My back is good with the Mesa D800+ and SW112 it has to lug every week. But man it's awesome to see what everyone plays through. So many of these I'd love to play through and tweak some knobs.

Yeah, I like my TH500 and my barefaced BTII. Lightest rig I have ever owned. I am going to look into another amp soon as I get the BF paid for because I want a little more power. I want to check out Demeter, Darkglass and Mesa. I will have to see prices and what is available once I get the cash.

Man, those basses... My keyboard gets drenched in drool every time.
Thanks! Played them last night. I love 'em. Got lots of sweat equity in them, my dad made the bridges and control plates, and they have the added benefit of sounding amazing. The black bass [Keef], tuned 1/2 step down and sporting a vintage Gretsch ThunerTron, has a upper mid grind that cuts through any live situation. The semi hollow [Frank], with the TV Jones ThunderBlade, has a rounder bouncier low end that never gets muddy. They make the perfect duo when 2 basses are needed.

I checked out the Darkglass and the Mesa- Bass San Diego has both (actually, they have Demeter also but I was not interested). Mesa is just a tiny bit cheaper than the Darkglass but I liked the sound of the Darkglass better (YMMV!) and I love that you can switch the different sections in and out. I normally use it clean (I LOVE my Glockenklang sound and the Darkglass is close) and then will switch in a bit of hair on the sound with the footswitch. The VMT section normally does it for me but having the B3K section is REALLY nice! FYI - I am somewhat of a Darkglass fanboi and have the amp, the VMTD Limited Edition and the Super Symmetry (AMAZING compressor!) but I would not have bought them unless they sounded great and added something to my playing.

It's not much size-wise but still haven't ever encountered a gigging situation where it wasn't more than enough. It blows my other bigger and much heavier stuff to smithereens! Markbass CMD121H combo. ( this is different than the more commonly seen CMD121P ) It's just SO nice to now arrive at a gig comfortably carrying everything I need in two hands! :)
