I did swap... picked up a neck from a Mustang P/J. Also have a Nordstrand ‘51 split coil pu & Hipshot Lollipop tuners on the way...

The bridge mod on my GSR205 took the logical course and became a full blown makeover:
Mods:
High Mass bridge
Yamaha (Gotoh GB707) tuners
Seymour Duncan Blackouts Preamp (with separate Bass and Treble controls)
Custom pickguard
Schaller strap locks
Jazz Bass knobs
Shielded Cavity
The bass was graciously given to me by my bud Mike. The parts cost a shade over $80, and are a huge improvement. Less than $100 all in, and it rocks.

Fellow TB member "Rock Salad" suggested I should post my modded bass here. So here we go.
I bought a used Squier 51-P natural for ±$250 because I loved the model and color.
As I bought it
I was not impressed by the sound of it and decided to put in a split p pu. But then there was the G&L CLF L-1000.!
I loved the looks of that bass and I also was intrigued by the possible sound of that bass due to it being passive and its place of the pu. Inspired by the G&L and when I saw my not-used-for-a-long-time Ibanez ATK I decided to put the ATK pu in the Squier.
I started designing and came up with an easy solution to get rid of the old pu hole in the bass by covering it with a "ramp". This would also make a perfect thumb rest.
The design
I wanted the bass to be passive but would like to keep the use of the ATK coil switch. Now I'm not great at electronics, so I had a specialist do the wiring.
It's the one on the bottom (the upper one is for my Mustang)
And this is how the bass turned out. It plays and sounds awesome. I got LaBella Black Nylon strings on it. I think it looks quite cool too. ;-)

Ironically, I have no plans to mod my ATKs.
You're welcome! I had no plans for my ATK neither, but then...
I sold the ATK without the pu
$56 for the bass.
$ 5 for paint.
$11 block inlay decals.
$10 racing stripe.
$15 bridge cover.
$38 LaBella 760N black tapewounds.

$135 all in. Seemed crazy spending almost as much on strings as the bass cost, but I really don't like rounds on my pbass, and I have LaBella flats on the other 2. The tapes feel and sound great

Snagged some factory fresh Hipshot tuners for my $80 2012 Classic Vibe 60’s Jazz.. gonna install an Omega bridge as well.
I bet those tuners cost more than you paid for the instrument! Where did you ever find one at that price? The Classic Vibe series seems unlikely to remain quite so inexpensive. I’ve had my eye on those CV ‘70s Ps (I’ve since started putting together my own budget ‘70s-esque P, and you know you will see it here) and sellers on reverb have started asking more for used ones than they cost new! I don’t know if they’re getting what they’re asking, but I know they don’t take long to sell. I think Fender might be learning that the CV ‘70s P is the bass they never actually made, but should have.
Came across it on FB Marketplace- original owner was asking $100 but I offered $80 & said I was gonna use it for parts (which wasn’t a total lie, lol..)
It was missing its pickguard & knobs and had a busted G tuning key but I’ve got it up ‘n running again.
My employee discount @ Guitar Center knocked the price of the Hipshots from $130 down to $70 but it was money well spent.
I’m now deciding whether or not to change out the pickups. The stock alnicos sound pretty great!
My Ibanez SR100 eBay cheapo. It was rusted out, nasty grease grime all over. Broken string nut. The previous owner used a Phillips screw for a strap button! I took it apart and totally cleaned it. New strings new string nut. New tone controls and new strap buttons.

Luthier work to rout PU cavities, installation and removing the horrible preamp that picked up radio stations $130
#2) This Jay Turser 5 string MM clone.
Purchase price $225
Having frets removed by a very skilled bandmate and slots filled with white epoxy. $0
