Let's spread some musical misinformation

One of the greatest battles of all time was between the Mixolydians and the Phrygians in 300 B.C....

It all started when two musicians got into an argument over scales......

Ahh so that's what "This Year's Modal" (by Elvirus Costhello) was all about.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the following number on BlueManGroup's first (smurf) album ...

Bustin' Smurfbroads

It's true that the planet was once inhabited by giants.....

This tape was recently recovered from an underground cavern....but the stereo is so large that it will take months to extract it......

If you are a younger player and find yourself in a social situation with older players where you are out of your league because they are discussing songs from the sixties and seventies..

and you are backed into a corner figuratively and you have no choice but to respond during the conversation..

Just say " Yeah, that song was slightly Dylan-esque....but I like the chord changes and the way they went back to their roots"...........this will save your butt 98% of the time.
That's not misinformation!

The classic Hall & Oates hit, Kiss on my Liszt, is an Homage to the Kiss homage to CSNY's Deja Vu, called Strutter. Hall & Oates were obsessive fans of Franz' early stuff but Liszt had no idea of any of this as he was being fiercely protected from the rabble, like some kind of crown prince, by his Uncle Adalbert.

Adalbert kept a meticulous list of those who would or would not be permitted to fraternize with Franz. CSNY were very lucky to be associated in any way. Crosby's rumored to have gotten old Adalbert so stoned one night he passed out, and when he did, Crosby, once a master forger in an earlier incarnation, surreptitiously put his and the other lads' names on Adalbert's list.

After all the mega-hits and hubbub, Uncle Adalbert's now lecherous List became a seriously hot topic, globally. Everyone who was anyone wanted to be on it. Franz fans flocked but old Adalbert made no more compromises. For the life of him he couldn't understand how all those 'god awful hippies' got onto his precious list, such was the mastery of Crosby's mickey finned forgeries.

Still, the list slowly took on greater shape, growing to include Presidents and Prime Ministers, past and present, and Kings and Queens, and Dukes and Duchesses, movie stars and bassists, sportsmen and sportswomen, but only of the highest caliber, and time marched on. Today, believe it or not, the snobberific genius of the Adalbert Liszt List has all but been erased. Now, virtually pruned back to a societal stump and cut loose from all the histories, all that remains is a distant wisp of a hint in every so-called "A List."
