This is the actual lineup for Country Joe and the Fish. All the A&R people loved the sound and thought a singing fish woud be a great marketing tool, but Vanguard Records was the only label to give them serious consideration. Even they recognized these guys didn't have a real Rock & Roll image, but loved the music. So they hired these guys to do the photo sessions and do the touring lip syncing. Woodstock was the first time an act lipsynced a large live concert.

A little known fact is that Keith Moon can be heard in the orchestra of the Eurovision hit "Puppet on a String" with Sandie Shaw. The Who was recording in the same studio complex at the time the single version was recorded and he snuck in the back with his contrabassoon. Also on this recording are John Paul Jones on bass, Jimmy Page on guitar, but rumours that Sandie Shaw was in fact Robert Plant in drag and a brunette wig are not actually correct as it was actually P. J. Proby, a good friend of the session players Page and Jones, drafted in when Dusty Springfield was unavailable.

During this session they considered forming a band together, but after several line up changes and splits it became Led Zeppelin and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull AND Yes.

People naturally assume that 'The Seekers' came before 'The New Seekers' but this is not the case. The 'New Seekers' were named because they were seekers after new experiences and 'The Seekers' was simply a streamlined form of the same name. This meant it could be in larger font on posters meaning it was easier to see and entice people to come to the performances when they only had second billing. (This same logic was used in a stronger form by bands such as Rush and of course Yes).
