An acoustic bass always sounds a little lower, because it's body is bigger. Hence acoustic basses can only be combined with acoustic guitars and acoustic drums.

Guitar cables do not work well with B strings, though are usually OK with E, A and D strings. G strings you should not use live on stage, ever.
