Yes, short scale instruments achieve their diminutive proportions by omitting all notes higher than F. There is no F#, G, or G#. It is possible to tune them to get F#, but you lose A then.
True. A lot of short scale players that work with horn bands do that because Bb and Eb are very common keys.
There are no sharps and flat notes on a shortscale. They had to take them off to make it a short.
Short scale 5 string basses add back the sharps, but not the flats.
5 and 6 string basses are actually widescale basses.

Notes properly played on a fretless bass bloom to pitch, but wither and die quickly if there's not enough mwah-ter to support them. Having an ample mix of wet to dry signal is critical in the fretless world.

I really preferred the debut album "Crout on Top". It was too bad that there was a falling out with Tom Ato and worse that he brags about it on the album "Let Us Alone"
