Let's spread some musical misinformation

Many people don't realize that Col. Sanders once auditioned for Alice Cooper to be the band's drummer. Unfortunately for the Col. he did not get the job because he kept eating the drumsticks.

There was a band who originally called themselves Tomato Tomato, but their drummer objected (because of the TomTom thang, don't ya know) and they ended up with the name Talk Talk. The drummer, who was totally into his drumming, yelled "It's my life!" at the rest of the band and thus was born a wicked song with a dope bass line.

Duran Duran named themselves after the famous boxer.
In fact, their final album was going to be called either No Mas, or Paper Champions, but a vote was taken among the members and agents and it ended up a split-decision, so neither title was chosen.

I love that tune! We play it in our 80s cover band- I can't wait to tell them this cool story, thanks!

I'd heard the drummer was American, and there was a danger of calling the whole thing off before the name change, but it was only talk

Both Sanders and Colonel Tom Parker served under General Public in the cavalry in WW2.

Sanders served in the 117th mobile cavalry catering regiment, and feeding troops quickly was imperative. Buckets proved ideal for food transport on horses. Colonel Kenneth Sanders became known as "Tucky" as he provided tuck, or food.

Parker was in charge of a PsyOps battalion which would use music to send negative waves to enemy troops early in the morning. Mechanised from 1942, the documentary "Kelly's Heroes" references this. Post war, he continued to upset people with loud, disturbing music.

Duran Duran was named for Durand Durand, who created a weapon that could destroy humanity. Barbarella, a space-traveler and representative of the United Earth government was sent to find him.

And that’s NOT misinformation!

The line "her name is Rio" was originally "her name is Barbarella" until it was pointed out to Simon Le Bon that it in no way scanned. His geography was not corrected.
