Let's spread some musical misinformation

There are many exceptions. If your cab is upside down, if you are playing in the southern hemisphere, if your pickups are wired in reverse phase... The list goes on.
here in the Southern Hemisphere, when we put new strings on we have to wind them on 'anti-clockwise' or they will just fall off due to the gravitational pull 'down under'

The names that people use for parts of basses are all wrong. Basses have a proud pirate naval tradition and thus the parts are named for the parts of a ship. A few examples:
  • The piece of wood on which you select the note to be played is the deck.
  • The foremost string retainer (with tuning pegs) is the crow's nest.
  • There are three primary construction techniques for a bass. Keel through, set keel, and bolt-on keel.

But most confusing is that pickups are now misnamed:
  • The pickup nearest the rearmost string retainer is the stern pickup.
  • The pickup nearest the deck is the forecastle pickup or the fore pickup for short.
  • The pickup in the middle position is the bridge pickup.
The bridge is called the anchor.

The Who was originally named The Llanfairpwllgwyngyll after Roger's fondly-remembered boyhood holidays in Wales. But when turning up at venues abs announcing themselves, the usual response was 'The Who?', which then stuck. *** was another possible contender for a name. Later that was taken by the short-lived supergroup Wakeman, Trower and Frampton.

There is to be a new law in 2023 meaning that all musicians must have two names. John Paul Jones will then be known as John Jones. Sting will become Paul Sting. John Cougar Mellencamp will become John Cougar, and Flea will be Flea Mellencamp. JJ Cale will become J Cale, and Cher will be J Cher. Justin Bieber will have both his names taken away and become and Sade will become Sade Bieber. Lemmy will posthumously become Justin Lemmy. Bieber will be never heard of again as it will be impossible to speak of him.

In the second law, no famous musicians will be allowed to share surnames. With Lemmy becoming Justin Lemmy, Dave Kilminster will be fine. Quincy Jones, Norah Jones and John Jones and Percy Jones will then become Quincy McCartneyisawful, Norah Lotofpeopleknowthat, John Zeppelin and Percy Jones (Percy is Welsh and has dibs).
