if you have read any of my other forums well then you know i have a troubled Dean acoustic bass. my question is what is the lightest tension roundwound nickel strings or anyother material (nylon, stainless steel, ect..) perforably in a light to medium gauge (.45, .60, .75, .90)

thanks,

Trevor

For an acoustic bass guitar, you might want to check out the TI Acousticore strings. They are nylon core with bronze winding (and will not work on a regular electric bass). They have very low tension and feel unlike any other string I have tried, more like the low strings on a classical guitar. They are not for everyone, but they are definitely for me :)

The TI Acousticores are expensive, but it's really worth it. You only have to buy them once and then they last forever :smug:

It's going to be tough to find ANY bass strings for under $25, let alone ones that would be good for an acoustic bass...

Hey Lokire, are the Jazz rounds still your roundwound of choice? I've got a set of those to go on my 5 string, but also would like to try out another TI set for my J-Bass. Any ideas? Another set of Jazz rounds?

Yep, the Jazz Rounds are still my fave :smug:

The Jazz Rounds would be great for a J-bass, I'm sure. Or the Jazz Flats if you want something different. I've got TIs on all of my basses now. Jazz Rounds, Jazz Flats, and Acousticores :D

+1

I put a set of TI Jazz Rounds on my Fender Active Jazz Deluxe and absolutely love them now that they are broken in. Very low tension with punchy warm tones.

Cool! I'm really looking forward to the 'light-ness'. One thing I'm a little unsure of though is the G-string in the JR-345 set. It looks to be a standard guage when the rest are quite light. Do you find the G string a bit unbalanced or??

I have no complaints. I've never been one to notice the balanced'ness of different string sets though, just the overal tension/setup.
