Lots of companies make basses out of basswood, it's light and cheap. ... But, I'm guessing you're not a player because you never mention body, pickups and neck? Three very important considerations.
) Ultralite tuners and a melange of parts and electronics. What I ended up with went beyond my expectations. I expected "fairly light". Instead, I got "featherweight" to the tune of a little over six pounds!

I need help finding a new bass. Something light weight, under $500, and full 34" scale. 24 frets would be nice, but isn't a necessity. I've checked out Epiphone's Ignition Violin and Club basses, but I'm not a fan of the 30" scale. Solid body, or semi hollow are okay. What would you recommend?
