Lightening the load, but still need "big" cabs

The best "punch" I've ever experienced was from a 2-15 bass cab (Mesa). (I'm not saying buy a Mesa!)
I was at a live show at a club and Mary Huff of SCOTS was playing a Fender P through a GK head and 2-15 Mesa.
The punch from the 2-15 was so great, my heart was skipping beats and going out of rhythm! That's punch!
This "thing" about 10s having better punch is not right. Fifteens can punch just as hard if not better!
If your going with the GK head I would get a pair of these. Invalid Link Removed I use to use them with a GK1001RB and it was plenty loud. They weigh about 50 pounds so a pair weighs as much as your 410xlt.
Another option to kind of 'split the difference' is the Bergantino HD410's. Very thin front to back, and while not 'neo lightweight' much smaller and about 25 to 30 pounds lighter than the 410XLT's. They look wicked on stage, and will just scream the volume. And, they have that similar super punchy low end and mid mid response.
Killer 410's.. not featherweight, but significantly smaller an and lighter, and higher quality/louder.
Other than the price issue, I would highly recommend MarkBass 4x10s (the smaller, rear-ported model). They sound amazing, they don't particularly look small, and they are very light. Mine is easier to carry than my Carvin 2x10. They are quite expensive though.
FYI take any arguments about "punch" with a grain of salt. I have switched entirely over to 10" speakers after years of favoring 15s because of differences I perceive in tone and response time. Others may certainly disagree, but I would trust your own ears.

Yeah, that HT322 was a horse. The HD line is smaller and lighter.
Actually, the HT322 was a bit closer to the tonality of the fEARless cabs that are being talked about. Big low end, not much low mid punch built in, a very relaxed midrange response, and a very clean, present upper mid and treble response. Literally the opposite of the 410XLT.
If you dug the HT322, IMO you will like the fEARless cabs.
The HD410 would be a 'better execution in a smaller package' versus your 410XLT. Just like the HT322, the fEARless executions would be a good but totally different experience IMO and IME.
I've never played at volume with a Berg 322, but I A/B'd one at a store. The berg just had "more". I'm not sure what "more" was, but I liked it.
Versus the 410XLT, much more true low end, and much less baked in low mid bump, and a cleaner top end. The fEARless cabs take that to the next level IME, and again, will give you a much different tone and experience to your XLT's.
Since you are just getting familiar with all this stuff, the new Baer ML212 kind of sits between these two classes of cab. It is voiced to be more inherently punchy and mid present than some of the other mid driver loaded executions, and the top end voicing is a bit roughter and more organic than some of the other mid driver cabs. It sounds like a REALLY good bass cab without the need of a lot of extra EQ, etc. to get there.
66 pounds, and it will give you probaby 80% of your XLT stack performance, with a tone that sits nicely between your XLT's and the HT322. Amazing cab, and pretty mean looking on stage!

Not to hijack the thread, but how does another 3-way cab stack up to the fEarful designs? Like say a Carvin LS1523? ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) It's certainly cheaper so I don't expect it to sound as amazing as the fEarfuls, but at significantly less $$, will a cheapskate like me get a similar effect?
Hard to say, Carvin doesnt publish any T/S specs on their drivers from what I see. The Eminence 3015LF is a beast of a driver. If they are not using something comparable there is no way its even in the ball park as far as performance goes.
The Avatar TB153 (I think that is the name) is the way to go versus the Carvin if you are on the budget and looking for a 3015LF loaded cab with a mid driver.

Nope.
I see a lot of opinions out here on TB from people who have never owned a FEARLESS cab or a 1515/66 based on what they think these cabs might sound like. In some respect, I find it disingenuous and misleading. Best way to find out is to go try one for yourself, if possible. Second best is to talk to some owners. Looks like there is a guy in your area who you could maybe meet up with. Also, lots of owners you can chat about the fEARful/FEARLESS cabs here:
