Lightning Boy Audio Thread

A DiVision arrived today.. so of course some obligatory pictures! Thanks @lightningboy :)

I’ve had a quick play and get a lovely full, rounded & satisfying sound. Smooth & subtle..
In a previous post I mentioned that cost stopped me from going with a typical ‘boutique’ DI, but I don’t feel like I’m missing out with the DiVision.
It’s great as it’ll run off a pedal power supply & fit on a small board with ease.

Thoroughly recommended so far & looking forward to trying it out some more.

Thanks to @scubaduba - I’ve read many, many pages of the preamp/DI discussions for recommendations - it has helped immensely.

To the point: I wasn’t sure at first, but I reallllly like these LBA 2020S’ssss.

I finally got to try them out live in four sets this weekend. We run direct to board, all IEMs, nothing on stage. 95% of the time, I’m not using any of the effects, just the Cali76 CB and the Noble always on. They’re great all by themselves, but I really like whatever special sauce, mojo, pixie-dust that the 2020S’ssss add. The highs are warm and thick while at the same time becoming more clear and nuanced. Every note on the B string tightened up with great hammer of a thump. I don’t recall who, but someone on here said the 2020S make everything feel polished and studio recording like. Agreed. No more mud at all. The tone through my IEMs is the best it’s ever been. I only wished that I had a wireless to hear FOH.

My wife commented “You were really loud but it sounded really good. If you make any mistakes now, everyone will know”... I guess the sound guys had me up louder than normal. That’s always the real proof right?

@lightningboy I was curious, can you explain the different material washers on the Bypass and Input jacks, on both the TI Box and the Division? Is that something of your own design? I'm guessing maybe it's some kind of genius grounding feature?

I wouldn’t call it a genius grounding feature, but it is a good and proper grounding feature. Only 1 path to ground in order to achieve a circuit with no self-ground-loops. It’s one of the many techniques I use to keep the noise floor super low.
