I've had the AG 700 & TH700 for a while now.I was looking at an Aguilar
I'm in this category - its all about using what's enough to cover the gig vs more than enough. In my case, I'm loading in an upright, an electric bass, a pedalboard, some hardware (ipad stand, upright stand), a duffle bag with amp head, cables, etc - if 1 cab can get the job done with a 112 or 115 cab and it only weighs 21 lbs, why bring something bigger/heavier? 99% of the time I'm lined intothe foh pa also so I really cant get very loud on the stage or I'm out of whack with everyone else. Why would one need the option of one 12" cab when the 2x12 would be better in any circumstance?
I just don't get this mentality.
Imma take a wild guess that the OP doesn't have to pack an upright.. In my case, I'm loading in an upright...
yeah, but for us old guys there's a big difference between the weight and size of a 112 vs a 212. I know lots of guys think bigger is better but not me. When I bring my 115 and 112, its prettymuch overkill, even with a loud band. These modern cabs (in my case, RevSound) are so efficient that bigger isnot neccesarly better. This coming from a guy who used to gig a mega-cab with 1 15"JBL speakers.Imma take a wild guess that the OP doesn't have to pack an upright.
So he should have room for a 2x12.![]()
Ha! Im very fit, but have recently realized that bigger cabs is not always better.SEE I KNEW IT!![]()
I respectfully disagree, imo bigger than minimum is ALWAYS better,Ha! Im very fit, but have recently realized that bigger cabs is not always better.

I figure that I can have the 212 configuration with 800 watts all the time and just turn down if I need to
You spelled "212" perfectly.edit for spelling
If you're looking at 112's take a look (better yet play through) the Eden EX-112 cab (handles 300-watts rms). I just needed a 112 for a small brewpub where we hosted over 40 "Friday Night Open Mic" nights per year, so I never expected to buy another one and bought the one in 4Ω, That turned out to be a mistake. Street Price was only $269 for this super compact 112 with Neo whizzer speaker that weighs 31-lbs. First night I used it, it sounded so good that I immediately turned around and ordered a second one to use with the first at medium-sized venues.Hi!
I have been playing guitar for over 30 years, and started playing bass a few years ago. Up until now, my bass playing has solely been in the studio, never live. Well, I finally lined up some live gigs and need a rig.
I play a P Bass with flats, and go for an old school soul/Motown/blues type sound. I bought an Aguilar AG700and I like it so far. But I don’t have a cabinet yet.
I want to get something lightweight, portable, yet full sounding. Budget allows me to buy a quality cabinet.
I was looking at an Aguilar can to match my amp, but they seem heavier than I was hoping for.
Can I have some recommendations for a cabinet that I can use live, that is lightweight and sounds great? I would like to be able to have enough volume to play with a controlled, dynamic drummer. But I don’t need to peel paint…..I can send a di to the pa if I need more output. Ideally looking for a 1x12for compactness and fullness of sound. I’d be open to other options, but I would prefer to keep it to a single cab for the rig. Ideally, the cabinet is a regular stock item, and not something I will need to wait weeks/months for…
thanks!

Come on, man. There's no need to be arrogant. None of these situations apply to me personally, but I can understand how others have different needs. I'm not about to look down on someone because they don't own a vehicle, don't have the same physical health where carrying a bigger cabinet is as easy, etc. Everyone's different. Just let others do their thing and you do yoursModular Shmodular...

If you can't fit a 2x12 in your car, you need a real car.
Get a 2x12 for gigging and some old POS for the rehearsal space.
Why handle two cabs at any gig when you can handle one.![]()
